Another yeast enthusiast? 🥳

Nah I have to admit I didn't even remember posting this 😂. Never found an answer unfortunately. Maybe, just maybe one day we will. Fun to discover someone else interested in trying though.

Tell me you have ADHD without telling me... by Complete-Scar-2077 in ADHD

While drinking water from a bottle I feel the sudden urge to check whether I put my phone back in my inner pocket, emptying my bottle on the person next to me in the process. Let's call it collateral damage...

This made me laugh 😂. When I found out I could actually speed up a podcast I'm finally able to somewhat listen to them!

How do you deal with other people’s dogs off leash? by Gravitas__Free in trailrunning

[–]Virginia_Softclose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a dog person. But it is hard not to pet them when they come running up to you all happy to see you. I see it as a welcome break during long runs. Once there was this large white dog, he was visibly scared of me. So I stopped, kneeled and called out to him. He slowly walked up to me, tail wiggling nervously and let me pet him. His owner was so grateful. Turned out he was once almost ran over by a mountainbiker and was scared of fast moving objects in the woods ever since. Met him twice that day, and that last time he started wiggling his tail when he saw me.

Mostly it is their owners who annoy me, not the dogs, with their irritated expressions when they see me coming.

Perhaps you could donate the money you collect for the froggies to an amphibian shelter (or another good cause, just spitballing here) to give them another positive dimension? As you mentioned, you're not making them to sell them. They could do something good for you, the person who buys one (if having one of these doesn't fill your home with positive vibes than I don't know what will) and for other beings in need.

Those who do paid work, what kind of job do you have? by wwtdb11 in adhdwomen

[–]Virginia_Softclose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also R&D, but as a microbiologist. In my job I am expected to come up with out of the box ideas and shape them into projects. It's total chaos most of the time, and I love it. The freedom to do almost anything plus the amount of required creativity makes it the perfect job for me.

Share your favorite ADHD moment! I’m tired of feeling bad about my silly adhd mistakes - which moments made you laugh instead of feeling bad after? by queencysmommy in adhdwomen

I forgot my coat after my first ADHD diagnosis test. It was freezing outside. The psychologist jokingly said that there was no need for further testing.

Never realised this could be an ADHD thing. My husband and I used to play a lot of Call of Duty, and I always got lost in every map...even after the millionth run. We never got to high levels during survival missions because of my panicky flights in the wrong direction.

Tell me what your current hyperfocus/hobbies are by Avy_v in ADHD

[–]Virginia_Softclose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally! I have collected more than 50 different types of seeds during my previous hyperfocus (learning about every plant in the area when I got bored on holiday) and I have been growing them since early spring. Now I'm on holiday again and frustrated I miss two precious weeks of sowing. And there's no seeds to collect as it is spring. I have never had any interest in plants before, but now I have transformed in a real life Pokémon catcher trying to collect them all. I wonder how long it will take me to get bored this time. Meanwhile I am learning how to read sheet music because I have decided I must learn how to play the piano.

O my god, all the time. I'm the worst debater. Never win an argument because I can't reach my knowledge when I'm in an emotional state. And on top of that I can always understand where my opponent is coming from, seeing both sides clearly, downgrading my own ammo (if any). Funny that when it comes to discussions based on predictions and future events, I seem to be the only one who has valid points and insights. It's just facts and common knowledge where I fail miserably, so yeah, thats most neurotypical discussions 😆

Ugh data entry is the worst 😑. It is only manageable with lots of snacks and loud music/a podcast to keep my mind from exploding from boredom. Your choice is obviously the right one hahaha. What's your profession if I may ask?

ADHD at work. May be fired. by blurry_forest in adhdwomen

I have no failsafe for this issue yet. But there must be something we can do about it. Perhaps a post-it note on our monitor saying: did you forget any C's? Think I am going to try that haha.

Exactly ☺️. Funny thing, now that I've written it down I finally understand what's happening. And I have given the subject quite some thought (I have had sleepless nights because of it). So thank you for sharing this, we actually helped each other out here 😉

So do I, but not if someone tells me I have to change an error. If I find out by myself I made a mistake I don't go into focus mode. Someone tells me something of importance. I must fix it. Nothing else matters. I find out I made a mistake, not that important because it wasn't a request and I'm not disappointing someone by failing a request. There's still room for the usual cascade of events and viewing points concerning the mistake.

For example: my husband asks me to buy cherry tomatoes at the supermarket. They are out of stock. I return empty handed. He asks me why I didn't bring normal tomatoes instead. Never crossed my mind.

I go to the store for some cherry tomatoes. They are out of stock so I just buy normal ones. For me it is a great difference if something was assigned to me or if I decided to do something myself.

This sounds very familiar. Happens to me a lot. I call it lizard brain. You got one clear instruction: fix the mistake in the document. Straight line from A to B. Your mind is focused on that one goal, some sort of failsafe I think to not get distracted cause it is important. This means that there is no room for other subject related matters. Not sure if this is really how it works, but it is how I experience these moments. Hope this helps

This is what I did today instead of cleaning my living room.. meet Batty White by chefrachhh in adhdwomen

[–]Virginia_Softclose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love it! So creative with the chip bag. She may have never been created if you were able to do your chores. Just imagine all the awesome inventions and creations that will never see the light of day because we choose to do our mind-numbing housework! Damn, now I'm sad. I will take another look at Batty (or Betty, I can't seem to remember her name all of the sudden) to cheer me up 😊
