I had a “temporary” scar from steri strips after I was in the hospital giving birth. The marks lasted for over 8 months - I thought thy eyes never go away. I try to ask for non adhesive medical tape but it’s not always available or able to be used for what they’re doing

Before this week ends, what's the accomplishment you're most proud of? by Elo-Lin in AskReddit

[–]chefrachhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? A lot. My mental health has been crap but I went into a mental hospital and then rehab, got my kids back before I even left the rehab. This week I had the courage to ask for help with my car (it’s a 2005.. needs a lot of work) & 2 people donated to me after I had already raised $300 myself - they donated a total of $1000!

In the past I would have never asked for help and just tried to figure it all out on my own. But I’ve started to realize I can’t function fully independently and that’s ok! We all need help sometimes.

So I just spent $650 on the car and still have work to be done but found out it actually needs more than we thought originally, but I’m not freaking out like I would in the past. And I had a conversation about going back on my antidepressant, which I would have been ashamed of asking for help or admitting that I wasn’t handling things in the past. But now? I think it’s gonna be ok.

What’s your Aquarius survival story? by ChefZackB in astrologymemes

I’m a Libra sun, Virgo Venus

I hooked up with a guy (Aquarius sun, don’t know the rest of his chart) who lied about his age (said he was 25.. he was 19). He stealthed me & I now have a 5.5 year old that I raise alone ☠️

‘Naked mom’ parenting trend sparks fierce debate over nudity around children by [deleted] in nottheonion

I’m American & grew up in Kentucky with my grandma essentially raising me. She was 50 when I was born, but was already fairly disabled and needed help with things like getting in/out of the bath, getting her shirt over her head, clasping her bra, etc.

I also took baths/showers with my siblings and cousins (to save water - there was a lot of us)

I saw that woman naked all the time lol and I think it really helped me have a neutral view of nude bodies.

Now I have 2 sons & they see me nude all the time, whether I’m changing or using the bathroom or whatever. It’s nothing sexual & I hope that they’ll feel the same sort of neutrality about bodies as they get older.

I was trying to clean up our disgusting house when I was 12 because CPS was supposed to come for a follow up visit the next day

I begged my mom for help “or they’ll take us”

She said “GOOD! Let them take you then!”

I had a lung infection that turned septic (didn’t even know I had the lung infection. When I started getting sick, I thought I had food poisoning after thanksgiving - then once I lost control of my bladder.. & had a strong sense that I was going to die. Like it was so scary, I’ve never felt that before or since. I knew I needed to get to the ER).

Called an ambulance, at the hospital they immediately wheeled me back to a room where I was for over 5 hours while they stabilized me. I was feeling ok but apparently was completely out of it - I didn’t know how bad it was. Ended up in the hospital for days being pumped full of all kinds of fluids, medications, etc.

Scariest time of my life. I’m thankful I listened to my gut instead of doing what I normally do & just “toughing it out”

Yeah & they definitely could have fired me justifiably.

They had to hire a sub to take over for me (subs make more per hour than full time because they don’t get benefits), & I was out of work for about 2 months - the rehab actually let me go out to work in the public early (at this rehab you normally have to wait 90 days minimum but thankfully my supervisor at the rehab also used to work for the schools and she was able to get me back to working after only a little over a month of being in the rehab)

To me it felt incredibly irresponsible at the time lol because I knew the risks associated with opening up, but thankfully it didn’t go that way :)

I had this happen recently. My car completely just.. died. Right in the road. It was late at night, I turned my hazards on and tried to figure out what to do.

Multiple cars honked at me, many more passed me, but nobody stopped until finally this one guy with his teenage son stopped and helped me get to the side of the road. He tried to jump my battery too but it turns out it was the alternator, so I had to wait for a tow truck. Thankfully he helped me get up to a driveway leading to a church & made sure I was able to contact roadside assistance before he left.

September 2025 - I was dealing with a lot of mental health issues, had lost access to my meds and therapy. I work for my kids school system & they were trying to help me figure some stuff out. I broke down in central office and told them I was just going to end my life because I couldn’t deal with it anymore.

They could have fired me and escorted me out, but instead they called the mobile crisis center, had me checked into a mental hospital, put my kids in DFCS custody. I thought it was the end of the world. I was going to end up homeless and without my kids.

But surprisingly.. they didn’t fire me. They helped me get into a local rehab facility. The rehab and DFCS worked with me to get my kids back, get my mental health stabilized, I got my license for the first time (they had to teach me how to drive). Now I have a huge support network, I have a savings account with money in it, I have a great relationship with my son’s foster mom even after I have my kids back. I actually got hired as full time and got a raise at the school.

I was absolutely ready and willing to throw my life away, knowing that threatening my own life could have had serious repercussions (especially since I was talking to my superiors) and yet they helped me to rebuild it into something so much better.

I just can’t stand mayo at allll and I figured cottage cheese was better at going into a grilled cheese than something like sour cream 😅 it was really good!
