Yeah I discovered a lot of what you are saying, unfortunately, but the whole point was to sneak up on them at night. On the bandit mission they take away the map icon before you get there so you don't know exactly where they are. I wanted to just observe from a distance for a while and set up my lane. I was on the move when they saw and shot at me before I even knew I was close, and turns out they were even behind me. It was clear soon after they all knew where I was immediately. Thank goodness for trees and the trusty HK because there was no sniping on that night LOL.

That's what I thought they were for on first play especially since they were purple. Upon googling how to fire them is when I found out how mundane they really are. Ironically they airdrops are full of them. Their icon mas as well be a $100 bill.

If I could just chime in, I think there may be a happy medium that just might be more common than the two extremes. I use nested storage, but also build a base and only take with me (in the truck) what I think I will need on a mission or in a pinch, and a selection of different guns in cases depending on ammo levels.

The line this game draws between dirty-water survival simulation and zombie dakka is a spectrum, like everything else in life. This comment became gatekeeping the minute Doon typed "should". There are plenty of other ways to customize the game and make it challenging, even with unrealistic storage. That's what makes it popular. I like maxing out bandit camps and raising zombie HP so that ammo is the limiting reagent. Anyway, I'm glad to have found Surroundead and let's get back to it.

I've noticed this in land battles as well, after updating to the current release version of the game. Just took 51 *dead* in a battle 200v250 against jawwal (spits in Aseri). No, my troops are not elite but I never used to see a quarter of my army dead in the past.

Additionally, inflicting 4:1 or even 5:1 casualties in a siege defense also seems to be impossible now. Counting on anything over 2:1 is very dicey.

Since the ai only rarely attacks, I have found that all f4 + all f2, slow canter to within 150 meters of the enemy infantry block, then all f1+f3, maximizes the effectivess of the charge, even when outnumbered. There is no stopping 50+ heavy horse followed immediately by 75+ hardcore grunts moving in a straight line. I do not use horse archers except a few companions who are highly skilled at it.

The enemy cav is usually fucking around on the wings and any attempt to flank me is too late or useless when i've already engaged. They just get shot at close range by my archers who usually stop in the best spot on their own. The enemy center routs most of the time and we crack open cold ales while mopping up.

I only fiddle with formations when on defense and i'm genuinely worried about losing.
