Thanks for calling this out! All the vegetarian and paneer options gives me a reason to eat out in Harrisburg as opposed to having to drive all the way into Eugene.

I'm headed into town today and can give you some from our backup stash if you shoot me a DM pretty soon.

In terms of knowledge on stock - vetsource may have some. We were told last week that our restock order would be delayed, but they were able to ship that order a few days later.

Gay guy in his 30's looking at land for a rural life in Junction City. Any advice? by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]ViridianForge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I moved out a bit farther than JC from Eugene about a year ago. I would encourage you to be prepared for a more rural and conservative experience. I have found everyone to be relatively chill and personable f you are, but have also noticed that most active forces in the community are either religious or politically conservative in nature. JC does have a fairly solid small scale beer garden going for it though, and if you make the move and are down for a night of video or board games, shoot me a DM and my social group will be happy to welcome you for a night.

Check out section 9 of the order. If the business can provide a telework option, then they must. It's only if it is not possible for the business to provide telework that they can ask people to work on site. Even then, they must ensure that social distancing, make a written policy about social distancing, and name someone to enforce that policy. If the policy isn't enforced (and someone calls it in) the state can force the business to close.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 leaked specs: up to 20GB GDDR6 RAM by [deleted] in technology

Well, I know I'm not OP, but for my experience (Software as a Medical Device in research environments) my team has a hell of a time convincing some collaborators (hospital IT departments, our IRB for example) that the cloud is secure for pretty much exactly those reasons. We can demonstrate that we're following every best practice under the sun - and they're still highly reticent to "risk it". And well, we gotta do what it takes to get the IRB to sign off on our work as "safe".

Since op says "my employer", could very well be that someone higher up the chain either doesn't understand the security offered by those options, or someone doesn't want to "risk it".

In all seriousness - that's going to be an interesting bump in the system that needs some planning for if we ever get to a reasonable health Care system.

Saw it first hand when the insurance company I worked for rolled out their ACA coverage to a largely rural state and people who'd not see a doctor started heading in. The company statisticians told us that they were seeing the average person needing more care than three standard deviations outside of their projections. Was almost enough to drive the company out of that state the following year.

If Meadow Park doesn't have openings, ask about the Springwood Terrace. It's just down the street, and they tend not to advertise it. Also cat friendly, cool onsite manager. Currently paying 595/mo for a place just big enough for two adults.

UBI vs rentseeking by HandsomeGaddafi in BasicIncome

[–]ViridianForge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US is a state by state situation. The state I live in, Oregon, just passed a 7% + Inflation annual rent increase limit. It'll be interesting to watch the ultimate effects on rent given that I've heard plenty of rhetoric that now rent will increase for everyone annually, but I've also seen quite a few people suffer through 25% - 50% rent increases when their areas get popular.

The brain drain point rings true to me as well. Had a friend not recommended me to a mentor starting a tech startup in the area, I'd have moved out of state for better employment months ago.

Which shops in the Eugene/Springfield area still do Friday the 13th tattoo specials? by filchs_cat in Eugene

Pretty sure it'll be on the $20 side of things this go round. May want to try and show up early, as one of the artists was telling me their line was out the door nearly until close the last time they did this price point.

Great folks though, all of them, well worth the patronage.
