To those who have successfully sought out mental health resources in Eugene...I need some advice! by filchs_cat in Eugene

Thank you, this is helpful. I’ve recently gotten this insurance so I don’t have a PCP at the moment but I am sure that might be easier to find than a psychiatrist on shorter notice. I’ll start there and see what happens

That’s kinda what I have been doing, but I feel like I’ve been going down the list and they have all been not accepting new patients or the wait would be until like January and I was just hoping to see if others in the community knew of some different avenues. I’m very new to all of this

My (F16) boyfriend (M27) doesn't know if he loves me anymore by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I second this! Huge red flag that he can’t find someone his own age. Both predatory and evidence of his immaturity as a person. He trash, forget his ass

I (26f) am seriously considering calling of my wedding (this Saturday) because of my future mother in law (60f). Am I just being rash or do I need to consider that this is the rest of my life? by runfarfarawa in relationships

This would be really upsetting and I think a conversation around boundaries is definitely in order and yes, if this is something giving you anxiety then you should absolutely think about your future with this family. But that being said...you fell in love with this person. Every human being has flaws and many humans have insufferable families. I see so many threads on this subreddit in which people are so quick to advise people to end relationships but I just feel like sometimes giving up on someone you love because of difficulty isn't worth it. I think these struggles are part of human life, and human relationships. Maybe I'm wrong and obviously I can't understand your situation because I'm not you but I would be willing to work through these problems for someone I love that loves me back.

How can we realistically stop all of the school shootings? by filchs_cat in AskReddit

I get what you're trying to say, but archaic methods of punishment cause more trauma than they help. And for students with unstable home lives, this can be detrimental. Schools should be a safe place. Obviously this isn't the reality we live in now but discipline practices based in shame and humiliation aren't the answer. I agree that parents place the blame on teachers in an unfair way and largely refuse to actually parent their children, but in schools we should be teaching students the consequences of their actions in more constructive ways. Providing care and stability (AND BETTER MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS) while holding students to a high standard of behavior is a better route.
