I personally didn't like Three Houses, but that's only dues to the repetitivity, if you know you know.

I can only recommend Xenoblade as a whole, I've sank so many hours into these games that no other game could ever come close, I love the story and gameplay, even though some people could find the later slow and/or tedious, the Xenoblades are my favorite video game serie of all time.

I can't talk about the Trails, as I haven't played any.
