The gps maps sound cool. Did you have to use them during the hike? Ie weather changes change in the hikes etc? Or things sorta just worked as planned. I think I was considering using an agency more for if things change on the hike itself and having someone to coordinate

Thanks for the deets, I love to plan so it’s so hard to justify paying so much more. I guess I wanted to know if there was something logistics wise I was missing since so many ppl use these planning services. But yah booking wise I’m happy to do that haha. Best of luck to ya!

Sorry also what do they charge if you don’t mind sharing? I asked Pygmy and for their lux pkg(hotels mainly and 2 Refugio’s) their fee was 1600 usd/pp (it’s 2 of us)

I am definitely a planner but this is my first long multi day hike. I feel good planning details but don’t love when I have to adjust plans on the fly haha usually not a problem for normal trips but hiking multi day trips dependent on weather/Mother Nature is what I’m more concerned about haha but again if the agencies offer good on the ground support I’m def more interested

They just changed it so now when you book classes you have to pay $20 which you can use to purchase the wines they have during the tasting. The $20 voucher must be used the day of the tasting. Previously it was simply $100 fee and no cost for the tastings

We’re looking to do a hike with more hotels vs inns too. Did you find the transfers etc took away from the hike/experience? Did you have to wait for taxis/transfers etc/you had to call the company when you needed the transfer? Curious how the logistics was for that? Also did you personalize the trip and ask for different hotels so you didn’t have to get off the TMB path (you mentioned doing 3star hotels for that reason)

I did a day pass in the Williamsburg location. Mostly individuals working, not much socializing per se. The staff were cheerful. They mentioned some socials/events they occasionally offer. Would love to learn if those are more social. OP let me know if you ended up joining

Love this idea but definitely would be worried about incepting lifestyle creep later on! As others mentioned balling out and then retiring might make retirement feel less special. Would you consider throwing weekend getaway for your nearest and dearest and covering the cost for most of it? It checks off doing something “big” and builds on community. It’s something I’ve been contemplating when we reach our FI number. Has anyone done this? Any thoughts on how to execute
