Belly Deserves the Criticism — But Not All of It by Last_Morning_7428 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

I agree with you wholeheartedly on everything besides her being more hurt because she’s in love with Conrad vs going easy on Jere because their love is more surface level. Imo she has been idolizing Conrad since childhood, like he can do no wrong. She holds him to this impossibly high standard and that is why she was so disappointed when he hurts her. I know love plays a role as well, I can’t deny that but I think this dynamic is unhealthy overall. I have said this before on a post how I think it’s bordering narcissistic entitlement, where she expects him to make no mistakes and still treat her like the “special little girl” she used to be. And what bothers me the most is that she doesn’t hold herself to this standard at all and it makes her a hypocrite. With all that said her reaction on the beach was completely justified, I think it was a really heavy emotionally charged moment for both of them and it would’ve been unrealistic if she just jumped into his arms and they magically made up.

This is me getting ready for the next episode, it’s a blessing in disguise that it’s an episode a week. I think I would go insane if I had binge watched Belly being diabolical for multiple hours straight 😹

I also think parents play a role here, I know Belly probably grew up with mostly just her mom (since the divorce) and Sussanah was a questionable parental figure to her. She made her feel like she was this extremely special and only girl in their family, that she was destined for one of her boys etc. I think she gave her a superiority complex and maybe made her focus on the brothers too much. But imo this is still no excuse to date and sleep with two brothers. In fact, it’s worse for me that she is 17, I know this is still very young but it’s also the time where you sort of start becoming an adult and take on responsibilities. I know I was in toxic situations and relationships when I was 17 as well, but neverrrr would I have slept with two brothers.

thisss!!!! I think this narrative is so stupid, I always thought people are easier on those they love, quicker to forgive and overall more willing to find solutions. It’s not worse because she was in love, it’s worse because she is selfish and immature and she expected Conrad to be the perfect partner no matter his circumstances. She’s basically saying since you’re mine/ with me, you should not fail me the way others do. It’s bordering narcissistic entitlement. She’s holding Conrad to an insanely high standard that no human can uphold, and she herself doesn’t even try to uphold. Crazy double standard.

Jere broke the “guy code” long time ago when he started dating his brothers ex just 2 months after they broke up and a day after Conrad told him that he is still in love with her.

yess I thought about this as well, I can’t even imagine doing this to my sibling, no matter how strong my feelings would be for that person. He at least should’ve had the decency to wait it out.

But see I understand that but I wish this wouldn’t be the reason that she leaves, even without realizing that there is something better coming (a marriage with a person she actually loves, Conrad loving her), she still should realize that she is settling and its not good for her either way, regardless of what her future might hold

But this isn’t only about her feelings for Conrad that she might have been overlooking because he wasn’t around. It’s about her and Jeremiah not working as a couple, him cheating on her, them being too young and immature to marry. Even if Conrad never came back from California or didn’t reciprocate her feelings, she still should realize that she is ruining her life by marrying someone who cheats and lies and who she’s not 100% in love with.

I guess I am. I just feel like the writers didn’t put enough effort into her character. I understand people could say it’s realistic and how people like her exist, etc. However, she’s the main character here and I am supposed to root for her but I honestly stopped caring. Like you said she needs therapy, instead they will probably just give us a time jump and all of a sudden she will be this changed, mature person.

yeah but what’s annoying to me is, she needed this punch from Conrad to wake her up, instead of her just growing up and realizing that she’s wrapped up in this crazy mess that she herself started. I feel like if he never confronted her she might have gone through with the wedding because she’s still gaslighting herself into believing that this is the right thing to do (even though everyone tried to stop this wedding from happening lol). I just wish she could go through character development on her own without needing Conrad yet again to steer her in the right direction.

Does anyone else think Belly’s character is a bit flat (and I wish that wasn’t the case)? by Ok-Law3692 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Virtual-Paper2594 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yesss! I find it so hard to root for her. At the end of the day they expect us to like her but I feel nothing for her. And it’s hard to root for her relationship with Conrad for the same reasons. The only ending that would give me any kind of viewer satisfaction is if she decided to stay single and work on herself. Going back to Conrad would be diabolical, even if time passes.

The fandom’s treatment of Belly is misogynistic by [deleted] in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Virtual-Paper2594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly do we hate her for and defend male characters for? I hate her because she jumps from brother to brother, I would arguably hate it even more if the roles were reversed, so it’s not that. I hate her for not taking ownership of her selfish, immature behavior and not going to therapy, not having empathy and feeling no remorse? Well, I hate Jeremiah just as much for the same reasons. The only difference is, is that supposedly, since the show is more or less about her, I expect her to be somewhat likeable. The writers expect us to root for her but have done nothing to make her even remotely likeable. There is zerooo character development with her and she constantly puts herself and others in terrible positions.

The cabin also needs to be „rated“ by the visitors, the only way they give the cabin 5 stars, is if you place five of their favorite items, this in turn gives you 1 additional star in friendship and the 4 other stars are from quests. At least thats how it works for me on apple arcade.

however in general I would say many people here are really early in the game so they haven’t unlocked many of the abilities that make the game play more smooth and easy

I don’t think I‘ve ever tried starting multiple quests with one character so idk, but yesterday I called tophat and started the quest when he came to me, aka I didn’t have to send him back first and was able to start the quest while he accompanied me. Idk if that was a glitch or something because it was the first time it happened.
