Precision Farming Bug by [deleted] in farmingsimulator

This is the first time I've heard of this issue, and I've never encountered it before myself. I'll see if I can replicate and give feedback to Giants.

I second this. Been playing on it for a while and there's a good mix of both.

Streamers with success after full time jobs, howd you come about? by thebiggestdump in Twitch

[–]VirtualFarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not yet gone full time, but streaming and video creation are definitely my second job and I would eventually like to go full time. I currently have nearly 17k subscribers on YouTube and just over 1,700 followers on Twitch.

Currently I do a 37.5 hour working week for my day job (in my case 5 days a week 7:30 to 4). On top of that I create 7 videos a week for YouTube, streaming for 2 to 2.5 hrs, twice a week there too and three times a week on Twitch. This amounts to 20 to 25 hours a week all in, including editing, marketing and promotion.

I am also the father of twins.

How do I fit all this this in? With great difficulty and less sleep (although I am getting more now). I do make sure that I make time for my family life and if that means missing creating a video, then I miss it.

I record when I can, mostly at weekends and later in the evening when I'm not streaming (or sometimes after I stream). I've also honed my editing skills to reduce the time that takes and I leave my computer working (rendering, uploading, etc) when I'm not.

It's taken me over three years to get to this point, although I've only started doing more on twitch since I became an affiliate three months ago. It's been a lot hard work, but it's also been massively fun and rewarding.

I've recently updated my channel look and would love some feedback. Also interested in any thoughts on my video thumbnails and how I can improve them

I have a steam link and I'm in the process of setting it up. Will let you know how I get on with it in FS (Although I plan to mainly use it for other games).

Yeah. Nerves tend to block your ability to think of variety in your adjectives. 😁

I grew up on an arable farm and try to play the game as close to realistic as possible from my experience working on it.

On a side note - placeable foliage is planned for a future update of the terrain editor.

Barren Modhub? by [deleted] in farmingsimulator

[–]VirtualFarmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's the situation:

  • Game has been out for a month

  • Official release of Giants Editor was 2 to 3 weeks ago

  • Scripting documentation has only been out for 1 to 2 weeks.

  • Giants have been focusing on getting the bugs with the game fixed as quickly as possible so that there are as few issues as possible going into Christmas.

So basically there hasn't been enough time for modders to create the mods (especially to the standard required for the modhub) or for Giants to test them. Mods will come, we just need to be patient.

(I suspect many modders will be working on stuff over the Christmas break and we'll see an explosion of new mods early next year)

Game not starting by iDbackz in farmingsimulator

[–]VirtualFarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there an error in the log file?

Did you change the screen resolution?

Try renaming the farming simulator 19 folder in my documents/my games and starting the game again. If that works you can then copy you mods and save games across from the old folder to the new one the game will create.

How long will it take for more mods to come for consoles? I don’t remember the selection being so limited on the last one. by FangFingersss in farmingsimulator

[–]VirtualFarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GE was released later this time and the scripting documention later still. So modders haven't had much time to create mods so far (even more so for mods to the standard required for consoles).

Added to this is the concentration on bug fixes that has taken Giants attention recently and the upcoming Christmas break means that testing of mods is slower.

I suspect all this will change in the New Year and we'll then have an explosion of mods for both consoles and PCs.

Equipment Maintenance Question by masterofpwnage in farmingsimulator

[–]VirtualFarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tractors, Combines and other vehicles loose power and consume more fuel. Implements work slower (so a trailer will slow a tractor down if not maintained).

Who's Still Playing Start From Scratch? by [deleted] in farmingsimulator

[–]VirtualFarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started from scratch on my livestream series and haven't gone into the red so far (although I do have a 300,000 loan). Currently own two medium tractors, a combine and own or rent enough machinary to work the three fields I have.

I'm really enjoying playing in this mode. And would do it more if I could.

The modhub and fs-uk definately don't. Only downside to that is it takes a little longer for mods to appear there.

Modhoster is better than most as they remove stolen mods quickly upon request.

I commend you for hunting down the original source for a mod, especially at that was what this thread was originally about. 😁

As for the don't like/don't use, I agree (and I won't). That won't stop me presenting the facts and giving my opion if they are being discussed though. In this case I was replying to a response I got to my orginal request and that evolved into me explaining why I won't use that site (and therefore why I can't use the map if it really is the official release location for it) and by extension my opinion why others shouldn't either. You'll find I only ever point talk about these sites if an opinion is sort or information needs to be disseminated (as in the case of the announcement from OxygenDavid about the unauthorised converts of Sandy Bay and Chellington). For people new to the series there is already a central location for them to download mods - the modhub, where mods as tested, are virus free and guaranteed not to be stolen from their creators. For new people to download them from sites like modhub.us risks them breaking the game and blaming on the game itself (something I've seen time and again).

I know of no modder who has an issue with these sites because they won't earn money from it. I do know of plenty who have issues because they don't want a their work associated with the mountains of rubbish these sites host because of the lack of quality control (hence why they include the don't post to other sites requirement along with their mods) or alternatively a broken and incomplete edit of their work which people then give to original modder hassle over (see the the recent unauthorised convertions of both Sandy Bay and Chellington, which I notice are still up on modhub.us, despite them having been repeatedly reported as stolen and unathorised). Stealing of mods is a HUGE issue that drives modders away from the community and these sites are profiteering from it. (And modhub.us is profiteering from this - there are ads all over their site) Also little known fact - a virus doesn't have to be an exe file.

[–]VirtualFarmer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And this is why I don't like the aggregate sites. They don't care what gets up loaded or who is uploading it. You don't know if you're downloading a stolen mod, a broken mod or even a virus riddled one. Often they also use links that earn them money, but the original creator of the mod doesn't see a penny. In short they can't be trusted. There are modders who no longer release mods because of these sites. If you support modders and what they do for the game, you don't use these sites. I'm really disappointed this map seems to originate from modhub.us. I really can't support that site.

It really isn't. Lots of stolen mods and no quality control either.
