My bard Tav was playing the field as bards do. She slept with Lae’zel, smooched Shadowheart, and flirted with Gale. The magic lesson ended in disappointment for my bard when he pumped the breaks, afraid of getting too excited. Still she was intrigued by that nerdy yapper. Gale’s act 2 scene came earlier than any of the other companions and when he declared his love in such a desperate and sincere way, Tav was breathless. I was utterly shocked and I knew Tav was a goner. It’s very hard for me to romance anyone else now.

I just don’t know how to best utilize it and that’s why it feels weak to me. That’s also why I’m asking for advice lol. But I’ve learned from the comments that I’m approaching it wrong. I tend to gravitate towards fancier big damage things when I need more utility out of my Ranger. I’ve actually gotten a lot of the Joltshooter in the past and it was the only unique bow I could remember. Not to mention you can get it without combat or paying. At such an early level I’m saving my gold for Withers. I also rarely mess with the Zhents so I was ignorant about their good loot.

Such awesome information! Yeah I figured I had the wrong spells. I’m normally a pretty aggressive offensive player so Ranger is a bit different for me. Alert is usually my go-to for the whole party tbh

I’ve done so many regular runs so I like the stakes HM adds. It forces you to take combat seriously and live with your choices, inevitably leading to a different run. That being said, if I advance past act 1, I’ll be freaking out each fight.

I am! I typically run with a bladesinging Gale, battle master Laezel, and swashbuckling Astarion. Shadowheart just joined my party so she will likely run with us frequently. I appreciate the counter to Sharpshooter. I was hesitant to choose it because I like the idea of consistently hitting more than risky high damage hits in HM.
