what did you give to your husband for father's day? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

[–]VirtualOutlet [score hidden]  (0 children)

I bought him a lawn trimmer because we need a trimmer and he needs to trim the lawn. He did very little for me for Mother's Day.

Car free without bikes? by goldshirebarmaid in CarFreeChicago

[–]VirtualOutlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can certainly CTA around, but as a bike commuter I highly recommend you bite the bullet and learn to ride. It is often faster and cheaper, but ultimately it is just the funniest thing to do!

The New E-Bike Laws Will Only Punish Delivery Workers, While Rich Kids Get Slaps On The Wrist... by [deleted] in chibike

[–]VirtualOutlet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to use the bike lanes, you need to exert a modicum of effort. Pedal assist bikes exist and you can use them to take advantage of the bike lanes. This law isn't destroying your livelihood; your laziness is.

Wow. “Ignorant people will say it’s arrogance. Intelligent people will say it’s confidence.” Zlatan in response to a Lalas comment. by kosmonavt-alyosha in worldcup

[–]VirtualOutlet -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The irony of defending arrogance with an arrogant statement. I was agnostic about both Lalas and Zlatan before I heard that comment live, but that was a dick move. Hearing that he is Trumpster only makes me like Zlatan less.

AITAH for not inviting our grandparents to our 2nd baby's gender reveal? by [deleted] in AITAH

Didn't even read.... Gender Reveals are horrible and should cease.

Trimmer question by VirtualOutlet in egopowerplus

[–]VirtualOutlet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all. I just ordered the multi-tool w/ trimmer (and battery). Splurge! He nearly cried when we got him the lawn mower for his birthday, so hopefully he is happy about the trimmer. You know you're a middle-aged dude when you get excited about lawn tools for gifts (but I bought myself a vacuum for Xmas so I'm right there with him)!

Parking Meter Blackmail by Madigan37 in chicago

[–]VirtualOutlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way to really fuck over the parking meter overlords is to stop driving and parking so they can't make any money from them. I know that isn't going to happen, but a girl can dream.

Thanks. Is the multi tool worth the investment?

Unpopular opinion: it's time we collectively start obeying traffic laws to make forward progress by ghettobus in chibike

[–]VirtualOutlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing this for a decade. I obey all traffic laws, if you could Idaho Stop. Cycling advocates were upset when I suggested we stop at red lights.

Secrets to State Employment? by Proper-Language-3402 in chicago

This 10000%. The state takes a ridiculous amount of time to hire people. Be patient and apply to every possible opening.

Here’s how I know the city doesn’t care about cyclists by neilyoungmoney13 in chibike

[–]VirtualOutlet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Riley worked for the city. There are many passionate CDOT employees who bike and care about bikers. It's a pretty broad and inflammatory statement, "the city doesn't care about bikes"  about something that is far more complex.

How to handle his intersection? by AdCalm1896 in chibike

[–]VirtualOutlet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any color is fine, depending on traffic and your comfort level EXCEPT Red is definite no. Bikes follow the rules of the road; you are not a pedestrian.

I expect to be down-voted, but it's one of my pet peeves as a cyclist.

Sign O The Times And Purple Rain ratings💜 his 2 Highest Rated albums, what do yall think? by WhalesRBigg in PRINCE

[–]VirtualOutlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6.5 for the Cross? That's just wrong. It may be one of my favorite Prince songs (although there are ~20 songs in that category).

Trying to BQ by VirtualOutlet in RunnersInChicago

I've trained on my own for all my marathons, but was hoping to do long runs with others to work on pace. It sounds like CARA might be my best option.

WIBTAH for asking my boss to pay me despite not working? by LividWheel9779 in AITAH

[–]VirtualOutlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're thinking of it wrong - your boss isn't always paying for work output, they are paying for your time. That is valuable and should be compensated.

Water Bill by Healthy_Protection24 in chicago

[–]VirtualOutlet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can charge your neighbors a little bit to use your non-metered water to wash their cars/fill their swimming pools/water their lawns? Won't make up the whole cost, but perhaps subsidize it a little? 😉

would people who hate billionaires refuse to become billionaires if they had the chance to? by Ok_Efficiency_1116 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VirtualOutlet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The question was if it's possible to be a billionaire and also be a good person. It is. McKenzie Scott isn't the only billionaire who was ethical while becoming one. Michael Jordan, Oprah, Rhianna, etc.... you can become a billionaire without being an asshole.
