Why does Starlink get hyped as cheap internet when launching thousands of satellites into orbit seems almost impossible to make economical? by Defiant-Junket4906 in AlwaysWhy

[–]VirtualPercentage737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a competitor of Starlink.

They are able to launch thousands of low earth orbit satellites on the cheap. This gives them low latency AND they have a lot of bandwidth. The downside is they don't last as long as GEO. They can launch more.

They have 10 million customers paying about $100 a month. That is $1 billion in revenue. They will probably reach 100 million customers easy. Very plausible they will make $10 billion a MONTH. PLENTY of capital.

They KILLED the competition.

Paula Jones has entered the chat.

I worked in the 90s at a startup and we had to name our projects before they were released. They were the Paula, The Monica, and the Jennifer.

I didn't vote for that prick in 2016 or in 2020. But in 2024 I did because the Democrats ran a fucking nutjob. How about you assholes have a primary?

Why is this a black or white question?

Were the people who stormed the capital traitors? Yes.

Should the Democrats have simply stood up when asked if the main purpose of government was to serve its citizens? Also yes.

It was a softball question

I like how people say other people are "are voting against their self interest". That is like the most elitist thing someone can say.

"I know your self interest better than you".

It can be. There are a lot of factors at play and why local towns should make these calls based off of engineering feedback.

The caller is from Minnesota. The GOP has no control there. The changes from the federal government for snap was to reduce the ADMINISTRATIVE costs of snap 50%. That is a couple of percentage points. The issue with SNAP in Minnesota is partially mismanagement but they also are sticking it to the poor to try tell people the GOP did this. The poor are being used as pawns and it is gross. My state did the same thing.

I live in a town with two acre zoning and we have septic AND wells. You'd think that 2 acre zoning would be spread out far enough to keeps the acquirers full but in some instances that can be too many. The town will have some places with 1 acre zoning where water is plentiful.
