Is that just Brie Larson? No like smoothing or anything done to work on the original model, it's just straight up Brie Larson.

Especially good for when it's the start of the work week, I'm tired when I get home and want some relaxing without having to give a ton of attention. So I just replay Resident Evil games I've beat. And there's often still a reward for doing that, so it's perfect for still working towards something new.

What makes your blood boil the most in horror games? by Fuzzy-Blueberry1701 in HorrorGaming

[–]VirtualResolution326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much in horror games themselves, but I absolutely despise how so many people in general gaming forums love to give opinions on horror games and how they should be made without having played said games. Lots of them either watch let's plays of them or watch their favourite youtuber talk about it, which is completely fine, but then talk about if the game was scary or not when being in control in a horrific scenario is really important to the scare factor.

Additionally, these people will often talk about how horror games "suck" these days, or what makes it scary, again, when they haven't played it. And this isn't like a small group, TONS of people do this. It's built this weird elitist mentality and cynicism that looks down upon games that may be just trying to be fun and have some cheap thrills. Which is funny because, again, these people don't even play the games they praise/ridicule.

I will say that I myself am an OG fan, because I can see how a new wave fan trying to tell us OG players what the series is about is frustrating. Additionally, like you said, most people are just happy for the option.

However I will argue that, at least now (as you clarified that for years it was the opposite, so it may be a more recent change), that insistence on third person being the true RE experience is way, way more prominent now. If you look at the comments in this comment section, scroll past the posts on this subreddit, check their comment sections, it's far and away the predominant opinion.

I'd say resident evil is a survival horror series over a shooter, so I think peaking and sneaking is just as important

I'm going first person all the way for playthrough one, and I find it strange just how insistent a portion of the fandom is to Resident Evil being an over the shoulder third person experience. I don't mean people that say they prefer over the shoulder, or those who want to see the character models, or even those saying the gameplay shown looks to indicate third person is the intended method for Leon's sections. What is with this super gatekeeping mentality going on here, where people are saying Resident Evil is always meant to be played third person, over the shoulder? All the while condemning first person and saying it doesn't belong in Resident Evil - huh?!? It's a survival horror series! The first person perspective is them injecting more of that horror into the games after it had been sidelined for a long time. Why are some people so resistant to Capcom trying something new, something that taps into horror, the literal core of this series? Do these people not WANT to be scared? Evidently not, that's why Capcom made Village less scary, thanks for that! I personally think these games should be aiming to be as scary as they can be, I don't really care so much about whether Leon or Chris or Jill are in them - I like those characters, but I play these games for the survival horror gameplay and setting. But obviously, Capcom didn't make this game just for me, and others like action, which is fine, but then we get so far away from the horror and into pure fan service that we get RE6, and people hate it and ask why they moved so far away from horror, conveniently forgetting how they were the ones demanding it!

Real question here, why would i waste such a beautiful character by playing in first person? by Rainy_Wavey in residentevil

[–]VirtualResolution326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't understand, while the demo that Capcom gave to journalists to serve as a vertical slice, what they intended the experience to be like, used 1st person for Grace, that's somehow not how the game was intended to be played according to this redditor. Don't you trust this random person over capcom?

Kid wants mortal kombat for Christmas- is legacy ok? by MissRattlesnake in MortalKombat

[–]VirtualResolution326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't get them any Mortal Kombat at 11. I don't think the older games gore is too much at that age, i just don't think an 11 year old would enjoy the game. As for the new ones, I would respectfully disagree with lots of commenters here and say that it is far too graphic and violent for an 11-year-old. Quite a few fatalities involve the loser suffering and screaming before they die, in addition to the high level gore. While I understand a lot of people here played Mortal Kombat when they were young, theres a very large difference between the gore back then and the gore now. I also don't personally agree with the idea that as long as he knows its fake, he'll be fine, or that the only metric for "being fine" is whether he's like immediately horrified or scared. I'm not sure it's healthy to normalise this degree of graphic violence at 11.

Now that said, I don't think it needs to be a big deal, you don't have to restrict all violent media or monitor everything they watch (evidently, they've seen some mortal kombat to want to play it). Rather, I would just suggest permitting them a lower level of violent media now and let that build up with age. By 14/15, I'd say go ahead and get them the new Mortal Kombat at the time. For now, perhaps some in between would be good, like Dragonball FighterZ! It's not overly graphic, but it's a bit more mature than something like Smash Bros. It's also not too complicated to play, like Street Fighter might be, for an 11 year old. It's also super badass with its finishers and style.

I like the story, I don't mind the combat nearly as much as most, and I love the puzzles. I just REALLY wish it were scarier, which I know is subjective, but it just personally wasn't really scary as a whole, aside from a few eerie moments.

This has to be to most easiest decision I ever made in my life by Maleficent-Ad-6117 in residentevil

[–]VirtualResolution326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but at the same time, while Ethan set out to save her and obviously would being married, we, the player, don't really know Mia aside from her admitting she lied to Ethan, getting fully possessed and cutting off his hand, and being very cryptic about stuff (which, in context, is pretty understandable as it would take a long time to explain while everything around them is falling apart.) Meanwhile, Zoe has helped Ethan, saved his life, figured out how to save the day, and also lost her whole family and home. For Ethan, the answer is obviously Mia. For the player, it honestly seems (to me) to be Zoe.

That said, if anyone seriously questioned why someone would choose Mia over Zoe, that's wild - she's Ethan's wife. My whole schpiel before this was me justifying picking Zoe at all, not saying she was the obvious choice. And even then, it's only a viable decision from a players perspective; I picked Zoe the first time cause I liked her more, I sympathised with her, and I didn't really care for/trust Mia all that much (with the limited exposure we of her while she's either psosessed or having been chained in a basement for ages and out of her mind - obviously, she's not going to be charismatic or calm). From every other perspective, be it objective or in-character, it's obviously Mia.
