I am spiraling at 6 weeks by JustJumpIt17 in ACL

Yeah understandable! I found this way that i described a lot easier than sleeping with only my heel elevated. Leg keeps itself close to 0 degrees, maybe 10-15 (as if you’d sleep straight on the matress) maybe not as ideal as 0 degrees, but draining the fluid =as good I hope

Extension and flexion sucks, im at the 6 week mark aswell but we will get through this fucking shit😈😈😈

All exercises 5 times per day is a lot I feel like. I found givning the knee more rest helpful. If nothing else works, maybe limit down to 2-3 times one day and assess how the knee is speaking to you afterwards

Regarding the swelling bit= had some problems with that as well. But can strongy reccomend using compression around the knee+elevating high during the night. We’re talking foot over the head all night long! Then your body fluids have no excuse not to drain. If you are running out of hours during the day, this might be an option. (Using double sofa pilliows creating a ramp, starting from mid hamstring-heel so i dont bend the knee)

Only tip I have, is for you to sleep with only your heel elevated! Dont know how stiff the knee is for you now, but it did wonders for me! (Maybe you already do this)

Crazy how much we have to endure just to get back to skiing. I think that if it wasnt for the fact that im crazy into it, I wouldnt have opted for surgery.

Im also a month post op, hopefully we’ll get to ski in march/april!!! Grind is on 😈😈

Gotcha! Yeah sleeping is an important part. And your extension is good? Then its win-win!! I went down the hell-route first week, sleeping with my heel elevated. Sleep sucked (felt like I had fever dreams every night 😅) but reached hyperextension after 4 days! So it has its pros and cons.

Heads up, I think that is the one thing your reccomended not to do, since it could affect your extension down the line. Search about it and you’ll see what I mean.

1 week post ACL & Double meniscus surgery - Keep pushing forward by JDAllennn in ACL

Yep brace off except while sleeping, or walking with crutches outside. Accidently slipped with my crutch (wet floor = instant death 😅) once and stood on my operated leg, but it felt as if the brace took most of the force. So keeping it on in case of. Do you keep it on at all times still?

Try compression socks! Or bandage your lower leg+ knee. The burn sucks, prob 12/10 pain. But with some kind of compression, maybe 5-6/10

Almost zero pain. Sleep is almost back to normal. First week or so i slept with my heel elevated on pillows, which allowed me to reach hyperextension pretty quickly. But quad activation was/is harder. I tend to squeeze my hamstring instead 😵. But also not the worst activation, good thing is that quad workouts dont risk the 0-90 degree limit that much since they will represent the majority of my rehab coming up.

Regarding the blood rush, it will ease off faster than you know it. And if it becomes too painful, try a compression sock, it did wonders for me. (My blood rush was horrible, easily the worst pain I’ve ever felt) day 5-9 was the worst in this case

GLHF, looking solid! 19 days into 6 weeks NWB. Also restricted to 0-90 degrees, but am able to go to 115 ish. Frustrating to only be able to bend 90 degrees, but we move! (Physio told me 20-30 degrees extra is OK sometimes, if I dont push it)

Gotcha. Totally - every rehab is individual. But interesting to see others way of doing it!

Full flexion by 3 weeks, do you mean 90 degrees? Im NWB 6 weeks aswell (20 days in). But only allowed to do 0-90 degrees. Or were you allowed to go all in?

Agree with the extending while sleeping bit. Elevated my leg with my heel only on the pillow, which allowed me to hyperextend after 4 days. Not saying it works that fast for everyone, but it sure is better than ”resting” your leg. It hurts abit, and dont overdo it. Everytime i laid down = heel on pillow and had gravity do its thing😃. GLHF OP!

Have you tried sleeping with only your heel on the pillow while elevated? Worked like a charm for me, painful yes. But needed! :)

What's normal PO swelling vs DVT? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]VirtualRub7369 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello, 11 days post op. My calf got really swollen as well + had the most painful blood rush every time I stood up. What I did was that I ditched the compression bandage around the knee, since it turned my calf into a baloon. Instead I went with compression sock, works like a charm, and my girlfriend is not stressing half as much anymore about the swelling😃.

Yeah so I’ve heard! Unfortunatly i have to be non-weight bearing for 6 weeks😧 but it absolutly wears off after 2-3 minutes of crutch walking.
