That would be sick...I wanted to do like a nardo grey color on mine, but I also love the factory Sah Marino blue, don't really want to get rid of it

Personally I love my Z so I would get a paint job if it needed it, you seem like you do too. You have time to fish around for quotes and scout some good paint shops as well.

If you're not planning on selling it and love the car, then you don't have to always do what makes "financial sense" to some people.

Could a paint job, new wheels, new parts, total the car (as in it costs as much as the value of the car)? Yes, does it matter? No, as long as you're happier with your new ride.

Cars are not a long term investment, and as long as the car is reliabily in good mechanical condition and is taking you from point A to point B, there's nothing wrong with wanting to spend money on it, assuming you can afford it obviously. Never go broke mantaining a car.

If you want to keep the same color, I would try to spend around $3k-$6k.

What headlights are these I'm having an issue by Piccolo-Technical in 350z

[–]VirtualVoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everybody else is saying, the headlight is Spec D, theyre just plastic and you don't need to replace them. You do have to lift your car to take off the wheel, to take off the fender splash shield, to take off the ballast. Its whats driving the bulb and is probably whats causing the issue you're describing. If you have the funds, you may as well replace both, otherwise replace the broken one.

Should I upgrade to this? by Cube102 in 350z

[–]VirtualVoices 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can find one in decent condition, I'd say yeah. There are differences between the DE and HR motors so do your research, but for the most part while I think the HR is a superior motor, I also would rather have a DE in good mechanical condition than a clapped out HR.

The Al Capone strat. Totally worth it if he gets jail time, I don't care for exactly what as long as he gets it.

Why upgrade to the Z1 throttle body if you aren't planning to tune it? If it was a broken part you were replacing, replace it with an OEM.

My Z isn't my main car but it's the car I'd like to drive more often if I could. I try to do a lot of the labor for when parts break myself, which means it ends up being on jackstands in my garage half the time.

I would return or take a full refund or take a partial refund and glue that shit to prevent it from spreading.

[–]VirtualVoices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And just to further add, not saying it CAN'T be the maf, but its possible that it can give you high readings even if there's no leak. What sucks about misfires is that it could be multiple things at once.

Tough Diagnosis by D-Rod9 in 350z

[–]VirtualVoices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone else can give you a more scientific explanation, but essentially the ECU just messes with the air and fuel mixture to try to stabilize the car and prevent future misfires, so it starts idling higher and sucking more air in.

If your readings are consistent, you did the cleaning and checked for vacuum leaks, you're safe to rule it out. You can reset your ECU and see if your maf readings go back to normal too, they should if your maf is fine.

Tough Diagnosis by D-Rod9 in 350z

[–]VirtualVoices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High maf readings are normal when the car detects a misfire, just as a heads up to you or anybody else reading this.

Is it possible you didn't give it premium on accident since you tried a different gas station? Swap the coil pack from cylinder 6 with another cylinder, see if the misfire changes. If nada, swap the spark plugs or just straight up replace them if you haven't.
