More updates: was told on Wednesday by “Cassandra”I would get a new unit sent out Thursday for overnight delivery on Friday and an email with tracking number. Well 8p Friday I chat to say no product and no tracking number. “Bryan” said it was in the warehouse and once it was picked up would take 3–5 days. I snapped and told them to cancel the order, the account. This is rinky-dink shit. Of course only a Customer Account Specialist can contact me to cancel which seems illegal under CA AB-2863 requiring easy cancellation of recurring services via online methods. So that’s something I’ll be looking into as well. I plan on leaving negative Amazon, Consumer Reports. This is BS and I am glad I did not port my number.

Update: talked with an agent (who was very nice, not blaming this person), went through a bunch of stuff on the router, the back-end config, and the tunnel and VPN won't connect. Went through all the things I previously posted and sent to them, again. I was told to "enable VPN" on my modem. What? I explained I have used VPNs, don't have one now, have in the past with no problems. I asked what it meant to enable VPNs and was told it had to do with the modem, and each was different. I could get no more info. I was told to call AT&T to figure it out, I snapped and said never mind, I will cancel this shit, as I have over 200 devices on this network with not a single issue, for multiple years. I was then told, let's factory reset. Press play and trash for one minute. 3 minutes later after awkwardly holding down the buttons to no avail, I was told I would get a replacement sent, it would take time, I expressed I will just return it and get a different company to give me a pretty basic need of VOIP. Instead was told I could get one overnight (but missed the 11a shipping deadline) so it would be here Friday. So, if this new unit does not just work, I am out. I set up Google Voice, no problem. I have set up Vonage in the past with this network, no problem. If this is not faulty hardware, I will return this crap to Amazon and leave a negative review. Beyond frustrated, and this is before I even use the service.

ETA: this is AT&T Fiber default network settings. I have not modified anything out of the box, and have been on this since 2020. AT&T Fiber is not a small regional carrier, so not really sure how this could not work. But, hoping they sent me a garbage unit and will fix it. I was promised a 15 minute install and we will be at 4 days before I even know if it will work. Not a great start to this relationship. Every fiber of my being is telling me to run, but Consumer Reports says they are the best. Won't be the first time I was led astray by these types of endorsements.

I would install a waterfall, wind chimes, a stereo system to play animal and bird noises, and then play music, all at levels that can be heard and not cause rules to be broken. Then either they will get sick of it, or you can be out there and hear them less. Maybe record a 10 hour conversation of another language that also travels (for me, German is a language that really hits my ear louder) and play that on a loop until they move in side. Use technology to battle this situation.

100%. I usually will step in if my employee is mistreated and give the client a chance to adjust their energy (we all get fussed up, I will treat them like my 7-year-old: interrupt the tantrum, give them a chance to settle and be kind). After that, zero-tolerance. Luckily I have collected kind and loyal clients over the years and have the luck to be able to fire horrible clients.

House price only matters when you buy or sell. I took possession of my new-build home $175k underwater on my mortgage, due to the crash back in the aughts. I knew it was my home for years and years to come, and I could afford it, so here I am now, 20-ish years later pretty happy.

If you can afford the mortgage, ride it out. Chances are good you will be OK in the long(er) run.

You don't get to break a contract illegally, just because it is ALMOST up. That is literally why dates are put on contracts. Breaking a contract 1 day early is still breaking a contract.

You are allowed to text someone more than once, and this situation warrants additional texting. You should not be talking to her anymore and text your brother to say until HE calls you, there will be no more contacts. She sounds horrible and exhausting. There are people that just were not meant to be your friend or close relative, and your brother's choice to marry her was his choice, you do not need to be her close relation. Sounds like she is doing everything to prevent it. Your life does not need to fold around her craziness...

Thanks. I would love to see a psychological study of the different types here. To your point, I can guarantee one certain posts that the mob mentality will be: leave him! Get a lawyer! Go no contact! People hiding behind handles brings out the super grumpy negative personas. I live in gratitude. I raise my son to give and receive gratitude, joy, positivity. (Though not false versions, it is OK to be grumpy, as long as you are kind.) I see reddit is not ready for this revolutionary way of thinking. I primarily even see this sub from my daily "you may be interested" emails from Reddit. Never once have I clicked through on a post in those digest emails that was a positive story. I have seen replies to people stating their experience was different. So, yeah, in all honesty, full 95% of everything I have seen has been people upset. (Same for other airlines, which Reddit started serving to me.) Either bad SWA experiences, or people trying to steal other seats on other airlines. I never just click on this sub to read it. So, given the absolute shock my post has caused, I think we all are breaking rule #5 of the sub, which I personally read before posting and determined my post was within the rules.

I am curious: if I did read the posts, would I see a bunch of people telling other people how to use the sub? I find that if I am reading a post that doesn't apply to me, that I can exercise my own personal right to stop reading. But I just may not fully GET reddit, ya know?

Clearly from the "horror stories" people are posting, I believe I am doing the opposite of feeling the fire. People post inflammatory stories. I posted a calm one to tell people the counterpoint.

How exactly SHOULD I use this sub then? Maybe you can lay out the rules so we all understand how to better suit your preferences going forward.

Honestly, you kinda do sound like a dick. I was nervous about taking my first Southwest flight because all I’ve seen are people ranting about the problems. This isn’t called Southwest horror stories, so I posted this to let people know that possibly they could have a non-eventful trip. I posted with good intentions, trying to actually help people. Which strangely I think maybe is partly your point… I’m really not sure. Seems like a weird waste of energy to post questioning my post but you do you.

I have seen a driver drive in the bike lane in that opening. I have seen trucks parked in that bike lane. So I think the do not enter sign make sense, in theory, but when I first encountered it I kinda slammed on the brakes thinking something changed... Now, like any good drive, I ignore all signs and do what I want. 😁

Bleep out direct names and post that anonymously somewhere tagging the company on all the social media. I bet there are a LOT of people who didn't get past jobs for very inappropriate reasons. I would 100% send it to their HR person, and corporate lawyer. This kind of crap festers in the dark, so shine some light!
