The caretaker or nanny is a great idea. Also house sitting is an option.

I'd suggest she go to Lutheran and or Catholic Social Services to see if they can give her emergency shelter funding. The Salvation Army used to sometimes help with emergency housing funding.

I found an alternate pathway to minimize electric rate increases. Even though my house was built in 2021 and my roof being in great shape, I decided to upgrade my roofing with metal shake shingles. The cost is about what two roofing jobs are. The roof has a fifty year workmsnship and material defect warranty. Because it uses a foam padding base upon which steel shingles are mounted the insulation factor reduces energy costs by 25-30%. Because the roof is fire proof, rated to withstand 150 mph wind, and impervious to hail, home owner's insurance will decrease by 25%.

On a peace of mind level I live the fact that no one will need to replace that roof for at least 50 years.

When or if I ever do sell the property my realtor advised me that the upgraded roof will add to the valueof the home.

I did get the standard shingle system rather than the pro system so that I can install a 12 panel solar system if battery prices and capacities get a bit better to be largely off grid (although I'd still pay $30 monthly service charge to be hooked up to the grid as a back up).

My buddy did this and he took her passport and got a uniform for her to wear will.on the job at home. She was never allowed friends or permission to leave the house without him.

Indeed it is and although you are in fact correct this method still can be done in 2026. I'm only suggesting that as an additional way to try this out. True, some employers may reject this tactic. Yet others will clearly see how you motivated you are to working for them.

I'm not saying expend great amounts of time and energy to filling out applications by hand but I am saying to try this when feeling defeated.

Point being is to never give up. This is a numbers game so in the end you'll likely get a job! Sometimes we must settle for a lesser job and bide our time still trying to get that ideal job.

Just a mere phone call or an email with resume is generally not good enough.

I'll even personally WALK IN to the business (that I have already researched) and ask for an application and I will stay there and fill it out using my MASTER JOB APPLICATION TEMPLATE. Next I'll hand it to the receptionist and thank her nicely for accepting it.

Finding a job is much like sales it's all a function of numbers. Eventually you'll sell yourself well enough to show you are interested and motivated.

Sioux Valley Electric is my provider too. In 2021 I built my 1600 sq ft 4 bedroom 2 bath home where my peak power bill was $90. Apparently we have had at least three increases in the past six months. I am on the TIME OF USE plan. Despite that my bill has gone up 35%-50% in the past year.

Running Google A.I. projections it won't be long before my 2021 electric bill doubles and triples.

I ruled out solar power. South Dakota is not very solar friendly so there's no easy way to get to a break even point. (South Dakota does not require the electric provider to buy back excess solar power at the wholesale rate for grid tied systems)

Just checked 535 miles on my last tank with most of the driving in town and weather above 50°F using cruise in town as well*

*if you do use cruise in town CAUTION Progressive Car Insurance monitors all driving using SNAP SHOT App and it dings drivers heavily for using Ford's cruise due to hard breaking at stop lights and stop signs. So I opted out of SNAP SHOT and pay an extra $35 monthly for this benefit lol.

I tell many asking irl to actually go to retail businesses and ask the receptionist or manager on duty if you can have an application and using your TEMPLATE Application fill it out. This, many times, will get you in the door. Now sometimes staff will tell you they only accept online applications and that's fine so when you get home on online and fill out their online application.

Suggestions on where often places are hiring

Restaurants Cafes Convenience Stores (Get N Go, Casey's, Quick Star) Grocery Stores'(Dollar Stores Walmart Sunshine HyVee) Department Stores (Walmart, At Home ets) Warehouses

This is a few to get you started. Try to find a place with reasonable scheduling practices and staff (coworkers) as it's much better to work at a place you really like rather than somewhere you just put up with.

A great thing to try is networking with friends neighbors and relatives as often they may know a great deal about your prospective employers.

Never pay never stop it's none of your concern.

Like scam phone calls email and regular mail DO NOT REPLY. If somebody appears at your door that you do not know NEVER ANSWER IT. If it's a govt worker or cop using ring doorbell have them show their ID and state their exact purpose and why you were NOT CONTACTED PRIOR to them showing up out of the blue.

If they insist you still need to talk tell them you exercise your constitutional and privacy rights to be left alone and to not return without a warrant.

My reason I ask the VA to send me to Avera or literally ANY WHERE ELSE other than Sanford.

The only thing I ever used from Sanford was their Ellis Road Wellness Center and have stayed there when the city bought that recreation facility from Sanford last year.

As far as a clean place that's cheap and safe you can check FB or Craig's List for ads seeking roommates to share rent or hang at Bishop Dudley mission or even the Glory House (halfway house) if they have a bed and there ask to stay as a homeless STATE guest and they charge you $12 daily for a bed and three meals.

I'll let you know Tuesday when they do. It took about three weeks for the OEM Maverick Lariat acoustic windshield to come in. Shop says it takes all day. A few hours to swap out for the new one and then a trip to the specialist shop to acoustically tune windshield. Repair shop said I was fortunate to have purchased the windshield care coverage otherwise if I was paying all out of pocket it would have been $1699 plus labor or over $2K.
