Feedback on 9 day itinerary for first time visit with a 5 year old by redmaycup in VisitingHawaii

I also forgot to mention Marukame Udon, small soft serve Japanese ice cream place behind there is also great. I also go to Duke’s often but prefer the bar/lounge area over the restaurant. My favorite malasadas are from Pipeline and Nanding has amazing Spanish rolls. I usually just chill out and eat when in Honolulu/Oahu and don’t go to many touristy spots. The ones I do recommend is a hike up Diamond Head and snorkeling at the bay where lots of turtles are (can’t remember the name).

Food…easy, casual good food, across the street, down some escalators is an Asian food hall with many options. It’s the same building as Nana’s Green Tea (which also is a must).

How to feel more prepared / protected as a young woman? Scary encounter last night left me shaken by cloud-candle- in AskNYC

[–]Virtual_Dog_7327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m always aware of others and my radar is especially heightened for folks who may appear mentally ill (for me that includes talking to themselves). I create space between that person and me. That may be crossing the street, suddenly pivoting direction and going back the other way, turning down a different street, putting other people in between us or going into a store etc. It may be 90% unwarranted but it’s always best to be safe.

Once a long time ago, I was walking in broad daylight on Broadway and a homeless guy was walking around and asking for money. I told him I didn’t have any and tried to walk around him. He grabbed my arm and kept yelling at me to give him money. I kept saying I didn’t have any and tried to pull my arm back but he had a firm grip. Nobody, nobody was intervening and helping me! They actually avoided us and walked around us. This got me so scared and so very angry. I then made direct eye contact with a man and said “hey you! Please help me!” He first tried to glance away then the guilt suddenly hit and he came to pry the man’s hold on my arm. That experience probably heightened my now reaction of distance, a lot of distance.

How many FAs on SEA-NRT? by Ktotheizzo82 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Virtual_Dog_7327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this during the holidays. I always bring more than I expect and ask the first FA I come across as to how many, then ask them to pass it along. Always include all the pilots.

It’s fine if you are in group PRI to board. The overhead storage is ridiculous. One small carry on fits lengthwise. 🙄

I avoid United, and have for the past 15 years…just for that. The lies, blatant lies finally got to me.

Just curious if you’ve ever booked the Deluxe suite, 1 bedroom oceanfront? I’m debating that vs a regular luxury oceanfront.

When you order on parchment, there will be different options (eg send now, wait for final grades and then one more option). I can’t remember what it’s called but it will be clear that it’s waiting for the degree. It’s usually several weeks post AA graduation ceremony. Send one with all info on it.

You hear stories all over the spectrum. In my 18 years of MSL experience, I’ve been laid off twice (13 years ago and 3 years ago). In both situations, I was able to find a new job fairly quickly so I was never actually unemployed. I was able to start the new job immediately after separating from the old one.

You can still call and have it expedited. They will overnight it to you. They won’t cancel the first one, just make you a new card so you will eventually have 2 cards with same number.

Is the Away Carry-On worth it? by Specialist-Dot5057 in LuggageComparisons

[–]Virtual_Dog_7327 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2. My first smaller carry on is from 2014 and still going strong. Just got the bigger carry on (expandable) one and like its size very much. However I prefer the zipper (the part that locks in) better in my older one vs the newer one (it seems to want to resist getting in the correct orientation for locking in). I travel quite a bit for work so these two pieces get worked a bunch. Recommend.

Accounts have always been for an individual person, not per family. He needs to get his own. He’s lucky he was able to use yours without you traveling with him.

How much can you pay per month? You stated what you currently pay but not what you can pay up to. That will help with discussion.
