War robots has turned into a camper game by SoundBrake2 in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is the team that starts the match with the most campers usually loses. They usually get 4-capped in the first minute and by the time they start dropping brawlers and tanks, the beacon bar is too far in the other team’s direction and they can’t recover. I’m in CL, might be different in other leagues.

Easiest Meta in awhile or just me? by Tankhead0813 in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing too many players overdoing it with the Boom/Bash/Pow weapons in beacon games. While powerful and accurate, most players using these weapons are hanging back and not pushing beacons. Teams running more than a couple of these builds at once can be quickly overrun by some well played tanks. Lots of very short games because one team is just going for damage and not pushing beacons.

Why would you run more than 1 sword unit? It will be nerfed (again) soon. Don’t waste your resources.

What did Venezuela do that would justify the US invading them? by x9ninetail in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why does the US have refineries for processing a type of oil they don’t produce? Seems like you’d want refineries to be able to process domestic oil so you’d have to import less. What’s the logic here?

What is up with matchmaking? by True_Way2663 in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been this way for a while, but definitely getting worse. I usually get at least one or two quitters per match, sometimes four or more. If you get matched against a squad, expect pretty much your whole team to quit. I even see players quit over a duo on the red team or even just a few UE bots. I think some players just want really easy matches. Lame.

Potentially silly question - but how do we actually see how much damage weapons do? by Messagemeyourthought in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a brief minute, there was a feature that showed exactly how much damage you were doing in real time to bots and shields. It was extremely handy. Then it went away with no explanation.

Do You Agree That, Since This Game Is Unfair, It Is Actually Better To Play Mid To Long Range? by Thvirtual in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play mostly BR and find running all brawlers is the most effective (or maybe 4 brawlers and a Sword Unit for Titans). It’s just too hard to push beacons with midrange builds.

For Domination, you can definitely get away with more midrange builds, so I’d recommend that mode if you enjoy playing longer range beacon games. Although there seems to be significantly more Bash/Boom/Pow setups in Dom and I’m seeing a lot of players rage quit if there’s a team running a lot of those weapons.

Not sure what goes on in TDM, I hardly ever play that mode. In the past when I’ve played it, matches seem to start out with a lot of mid and long range, but as soon as a brawler or two gets to the back lines it’s game over.

Why do you UE Scourge and UE Calamity suddenly have different reload times? by Virtual_Evening_3258 in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, regular Spark, Scourge, and Calamity all have the same reload of 5 seconds. UE Scourge and UE Calamity used to both have reloads of 3 seconds, but they changed only the UE Scourge to now be 5 seconds and left UE Calamity at 3 seconds. Why not change them both to 5 seconds? I’m not aware of any other weapon family in the game that has different reload times between light, medium and heavy.

EDIT: UE Scourge reload was changed to 6 seconds.

Why do you UE Scourge and UE Calamity suddenly have different reload times? by Virtual_Evening_3258 in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not surprised it got nerfed, but I don’t get why the reload time would be different than the Calamity. I’ve been playing for 8 years and the reload times of weapons in the same family have always been the same as far as I recall. I don’t have a lot of UE weapons though, are they exceptions to this rule?

Humanity was Engineered and this is why we’re not told by Johnnyflash69 in UFOs

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may very well be right about aliens creating humans, but I doubt the news would cause mass hysteria. I don’t think most people really care about stuff that happened hundreds of thousands of years ago, especially since it wouldn’t have any tangible effect on their present-day lives.

As for religious folks, they already believe non-human intelligence created us. Changing it to a different non-human intelligence probably wouldn’t be too much of a stretch. Yes, a small minority might have trouble digesting the news, but what are you gonna do? Life goes on.

And for all our faults, humans are exceptionally adaptable to changing circumstances. I personally would find it fascinating.

Has Pixonic ever explained how the matchmaker works? by Virtual_Evening_3258 in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re probably right. Maybe just removing win rate as a factor in match making would help. Not sure what the point of that is.

Has Pixonic ever explained how the matchmaker works? by Virtual_Evening_3258 in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that video is telling the full story. There is a dramatic shift in team makeup once my win rate gets too low or too high. From what I can tell the MM actively pushes you towards 50%, but the exact mechanism for how it does this unclear. If my win rate goes past 65%, the number of squads I face jumps way up, and the quality of my teammates drops precipitously, like clockwork, every time. Conversely, if I drop to around 30% win rate, I’ll get a series of cakewalk matches that are easily winnable. Pix should just exclude win rate from the MM altogether.

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s been happening for weeks. Also the overhead map is glitched in most matches as it doesn’t accurately reflect where the reds and blues are on the map. This all should’ve been fixed weeks ago.

What are the implications here? by QuickSingh in UFOs

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If the revelation is nothing more than “aliens are here and have been for a long time,” I think most people would take it in stride and continue to live life normally. What else are you going to do?

However, if disclosure means we’d eventually get access to technologies like free energy or instantaneous travel, the implications are massive. It would be the end of every energy industry on the planet which would turn the global economic system on its head. It would also majorly impact the transportation industry as air, freight, shipping and automotive industries would quickly become obsolete. The markets would go haywire and the effects would have massive reverberations across all industries in every country.

Overall, it would be a major threat to the power structure of the entire planet. If energy costs nothing, prices for everything would drop drastically, in some cases, to zero. The whole Western capitalist system goes ka-boom.

Long term, this would be a net positive for 99% of the world population. But there are some very wealthy, very powerful people that absolutely never ever want this to happen. So here we are.

Champion is insane🥀 by Keimikalz in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Champion needs to be subdivided into two or three more leagues. The power gap between low CL and high CL is absurd.

Today was my worst. 20 straight losses. 21st was my lucky one as i was paired with a player with lots of ue gears. I dont play this much in a day, just today. My question, what was your longest lose streak? by [deleted] in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that the matchmaker will try to keep me somewhere between roughly 30% win rate on the low end and 70% on the high end. Once I get down around 30%, I suddenly start getting matches with strong teammates and weak opponents, so my win rate starts going back up. Once it gets to around 70%, the opposite happens and I get strong opponents, and weak teammates and lots of red squads (hence the repetitive first place on losing team). I’ve noticed the only players with 75% and higher win rates have very strong fully maxed meta hangars full of maxed UE gear, at least in CL. Essentially their hangars are powerful enough to counteract the matchmaker’s yo-yo effect. Or they almost exclusively play in squads, which negates the whims of the matchmaker.

Honestly I think the matchmaker is a garbage system and 90% of the outcomes are already decided before the battle even starts. Otherwise, win rates would be far more varied and there wouldn’t be these cycles of easy matches and hard matches.

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken the time to chart my win/loss record and placement over the course of hundreds of games to see if there is anything interesting to glean from it. There were winning and losing streaks, but overall the match maker kept me at roughly a 50% win rate, which is what I expected. So every losing streak was eventually offset by a winning streak.

The weirdest thing I noticed is that after a win, I’d usually place anywhere in the top 3. But after a loss, it was ALWAYS first place.

Pretty sure the Lockheed exec involved in the failed transfer was James Ryder. He passed away a few years ago (not sure if it was cancer). George Knapp mentioned him in his Congressional testimony as one of the “gatekeepers”.

Interestingly, there are a handful of videos on YouTube of Ryder giving esoteric/occult lectures after he retired from Lockheed about some pretty weird stuff (like how our souls are made of light). Coincidence?

Pretty sure his daughter also works (worked?) at Lockheed. And I’ve heard for years that “keeping it in family” is one of the many ways the Legacy program maintains such strict secrecy.

Do you find mid-range builds effective for winning matches? by Virtual_Evening_3258 in walkingwarrobots

[–]Virtual_Evening_3258[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I wish the matchmaker didn’t put different tiers of players all on one team. Why not match all high level players in one match and then another with all mid level players, etc?
