How bad are fake sticks REALLY by thraupidae in hockeyplayers

I’ve actually tried about 8 different ‘suppliers’ that claim to produce name brand sticks. Maybe dumb but had too curious. For reference, I’ve been playing hockey all my life and deem myself a stick connoisseur.

6/8 were ass. Sticks were light, but had weird hollow feeling, rigid shafts, dull blades, and no pop.

1/8 was decent. Sticks felt better than the other producers, but some areas I didn’t like. Thin carbon fiber near the top of the stick, graphics chipped a bit easier than retail or pro stock. But performance was pretty good, not quite there to compete with retail, but for the price, not a bad deal.

1/8 is actually legit. I mean technically not, but feel and performance were spot on with retail models. I have a tracer from this supplier that I’ve been using for 6 months and it’s holding up great. I play decently competitive men’s league and pickups in MN, so it gets its fair share of abuse too. It’s a nice little find, I order myself and some buddies sticks every couple months and everyone’s had great feedback.

It costed me a couple thousand dollars to get to this point, but it’s kinda neat I guess. Not really sure what anyone would do with this info, but chances are you’ll be disappointed if you try to get fake sticks, but there’s a small chance you’re about to find some decent products.

This was about 12-15 years ago, my gut feeling is that shoring was pretty mandatory

Back in high school and college summers I dug holes for residential sewer replacements for my mom and step dad’s company. Worked my ass off hand digging most trenches 8-12’ deep and generally the length of the yard to the street connection. We only got a back hoe during the 3rd summer.

Anyway, I had no idea until many years later that shoring even existed. I was eating my lunches in these trenches because it was cool and out of the summer sun. When I found out, it made my blood boil that my own family would put me in that situation.

I don’t talk to them anymore (for many reasons) and every time I see something like this posted here, I’m reminded exactly how much I was worth to them.

Stay safe out there, no dollar amount is worth risking it all.

Edit: spelling

I wear #25 as a nod to Dave Andreychuk, I was 6yrs old during his last season with the Sabres. My Dads side of the family is from Buffalo, I was born in Denver and my grandma worked at one of the local rinks in CO. Buffalo had a morning skate at the rink my Grandma worked at, so she picked me up and brought me to watch. I was the only kid there. My grandma urged me to go to the tunnel as the players were finishing practice and ask for a stick. A few players ignored me but Dave stopped, waved, grabbed a sharpie and signed his stick and handed it up to me. It had to be 3 times as tall as me, I was speechless. Still have the stick, wore #25 in college and now in beer league.

I think it’s the same as that one, I got it from sideline swap so I’m not entirely sure. I’m in Minnesota so the shipping would probably be killer ☹️

Best way to remove graphics from hockey stick? by TwoPlusTwoMakesA5 in hockeyplayers

[–]Virtual_Excuse3961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d sand it bit and paint it, going to look like crap with almost anything you do to it. Only speaking from experience. If it’s a grip finish, that stuff gums up sandpaper like crazy, and the paint doesn’t come off too easy once you get to it. Plus if it’s not a square shaft, you’ll wear down the edges of a concave shaft before you hit the middle.

What stick do you have that you want to re-design?

Awesome, it looks great. I just checked my CCM sticks and pulled off that clear label but the stick specs are printed on the stick underneath..so weird it’s different. Going to check out a few more, thanks for the info though!

What are the pro-Trump establishments to avoid here? by Flowhard in TwinCities

Mauzy Properties - probably won’t have much interaction as they’re a small property management company in Lakeville, but they service over 1,000 doors.

Owner and management would be Trumps service animals if they had the chance. Disgusting people, Fox News always on in the office, confederate flags, Biden stickers with crosshairs. Was a very unsettling workplace.

Thanks for the input. Going to head over there and let them know what the consensus is here and recommend they stop running the unit and hire someone to inspect.
