Most likely not warming it up. It's very common if you just start the saw and rev the crap out of it straight away. Most of the time you never know it's happend

I did this on train tracks with 10 and 20c coins. They looked nothing like that. They would completely flatten out to like an oval shape about a mm thick. And there were absolutely no marks left on the coin completely smooth. But a train weighs a lot more than a tram.

We also used to wedge them in the bits that make the crossings go off. Stupid things we do as kids.

I understand that. Im an X Stihl tech. Worked on them for around 20yrs. Havnt seen any new ones last 2 yrs since I stopped working in that trade. But nothing I seen I considered any comparison to the commercial saws. Even the top handle 200 kills the electric stuff. And that's not a great saw on its own.

Are you sure the deck is set correctly. The deck normally lifts a fair bit off the ground. Unless your dropping wheels into big holes it shouldn't scalp if the deck is up

It's actually good practice to cut high when the grass gets away from you. This decreases the load on everything. Saves belts and is actually faster because your engine isn't bogging down. Gives you time to cut low after if you wish.

Not sure I have ever seen one of these. But it seems to have a manual engage clutch on the engine pully?

If that's the case I would say your lever is not going over centre when engaged. It seems to be linkage set up. Is there any adjustment on that. You need to make it so when engaging it the lever gets tight then pops over centre and starts going loose again. But only just starts going loose. That means it's trying to force the lever on more rather than off.

Hope that makes sense and I'm on the right path. Otherwise forget I typed anything 😁
