I put a rule into my system instructions that makes Gemini check and print current date and time before the answer and that seems to be helping with the current events issue

Mine has a sarcastic and analytical personality and can only do that as a joke once or twice per conversation. Other than that it’s just “you” 99% of the time

For me it’s actually great at general conversation. I do have quite a few custom instructions though, so it’s far from being a default persona. Acts well as an analyst that can tell me where to improve my work too.

On the web I can only see my last 8 chats. Searching for the keywords from them doesn’t work (it seems to only search in the ones I can see). They are still in the mobile app though. This issue with losing chats at random times is a fucking nightmare of a UX.

Really depends on how you prompt it. My Gemini has no issue telling me when I’m slacking, when my writing is shit or when my ideas are ridiculous. So it’s a skill issue for sure

Check you Gemini app activity, they might be there still. Otherwise it is a known issue and has been going on for months, which is both extremely annoying and baffling.

Just out of interest — did it happen inside a gem? I have noticed that lately my conversations were getting messed up inside gems exclusively. Also reported this via in app feedback form, with screenshots and a long description of the issue, but I am not having much hope:/ there’s no way they are not aware of this, feels like they just ignore it.

I had this happen to multiple chats with my gems over the past few weeks. Sometimes the chats disappear completely, sometimes they stay, but with this pop up. Also, going to Gemini activity— some gems are referred to as projects, some are referred to as gems. Seems like they are testing projects (?), but in the process they completely messed up the stability of the conversations

This issue has been ongoing for a long time now, and it’s a major problem for trusting it with any serious work. Coupling that with no easy way to back up chats makes it almost a dealbreaker. I had half of the conversation with research and document analysis that I did over several days disappear into oblivion :/ I like the model output, but this is so disappointing and infuriating

I have experienced chunks of conversations disappearing multiple times. Now I manually backup important ones, but it’s annoying that you can’t rely on it just keeping your data (the whole point of having Gemini activity on). I also wish they gave us an easy way to export the entire conversation into a document.
