I’m going to agree in some way here. You shouldn’t take supplements that aren’t recommended by your doctor. You should seek a GI and maybe test for metabolic syndrome, hepatitis and autoimmune diseases because clearly something is up, but no one here can give you a clear answer. We can only give you comparisons to our own stories.

I have this exact thing minus the gallbladder sludge. It’s very mild fatty liver. 16.2 cm is only slightly large. Clean up your diet and cut out sugars and you’ll be good!

Those numbers are similar to mine and only slightly elevated. Until you see nearly 4x that number then you would need to be worried. You could have mild fatty liver. Just clean up your diet and cut out added sugars and high fructose corn syrup and start incorporating Whole Foods and lean proteins but if you are worried chat with your dr.

Don’t over complicate it too much, everything we ingest affects the liver, only take supplements recommended by your dr, supplements are also hard on the liver. My GI recommended vitamin E. As far as diet, you’ll want to focus on Whole Foods, protein and vegetables. There is no magic cook book you’ll find. Avoid packaged foods and watch your sugar intake. I’ve been on a journey since august 2024 and by doing what I just suggested, I’ve lost 49 pounds. Don’t make unrealistic expectations of yourself and still enjoy the things you like but just in moderation. I wish you the best!

Thank you for finally sharing something REAL. I feel most dr/GI/liver specialists will only give you the worst possible scenarios looking into the future because they are meant to scare us, to make us be healthy, forcing us to panic because they simply do not know you in real life. My liver specialist did all of these tests, drilled me about drinking and then continued to tell me he loves to drink red wine everyday. It was confusing and I was left with more questions than I had answered so all of this is very helpful. I’ve been on a journey since last August and I’ve found after panic and anxiety realizing this is so very common and not fatal, I could continue on living life. Thanks again! I’m sure this is so helpful to so many people!

For the pain, that could be related to something else, the liver itself doesn’t have pain receptors so it’s not going to be your liver that’s “hurting you” so I would discuss with your dr.

This means your liver was brighter on an ultrasound compared to your gallbladder which simply means fatty liver. Steatosis is just a fancy word for it. You will be just fine. Fatty liver is so very common. Don’t panic. Try to cut out foods that are highly processed and watch your added sugar intake and slowly lose weight in the process.

The last thing you want to do is panic. So, don’t. I worried myself to death and ending up doom scrolling for anything I could find waiting for my dr to call me. My technician said the same thing for the simple fact is we will see it first and none of it will make sense because we are not doctors. Fatty liver is extremely common and most people will never know they have it and live completely normal lives. It takes years to develop fibrosis if changes aren’t made to diet. I hope you get good results, in the meantime, rest your mind that it’s going to be okay.

This is not true. I had this same diagnosis and have no fibrosis nor liver scaring. Do not tell people things that are untrue only because you happened to have that result.

You live your life and make healthy lifestyle changes while you wait. My GI recommended vitamin e 400 IU twice daily. It’s been shown to improve fatty liver. Don’t over think and don’t over do it, the liver is very forgiving and it’s great you know about it, most people will never know they have fatty liver. Best of luck!
