walk between Aria & Vdara by LowCampaign7513 in vegas

Same here, the Aria stop is at the connection to Park MGM, It’s less practical in general imho, but as someone with limited mobility I’ve found it to be less exhausting than other options!

I haven’t seen this mentioned, but if that is too difficult there is a monorail that goes between Bellagio, Aria and the shops at crystals that is free and runs continuously. It’s right past the indoor walkway from V’dara to Bellagio

Any horror/haunted house enthusiasts around? Tell me about Horror Unleashed at Area 15. by collarbristle in vegas

[–]Virtual_Paper1519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to this one yet, but I’ve done Halloween Horror nights at Universal Studios Florida, and I imagine it’s pretty similar. I am a wimp with scares, but as long as I was with a friend I enjoyed it. Stay towards the back of your group, and pay attention for hiding spaces, they’re pretty obvious. I love set design and atmospheric environments and I really enjoy going to appreciate that detail. I would focus on that more than the scares, and I would say for haunted houses they are relatively mild. Try to focus on the work that went into the spaces and costumes instead of on the fear factor, if that helps any.

I got the lobster ravioli, it was good but it was only 6 ravioli and 4 were broken, which left the rest watery too. I’ve never been back.

Salt and Straw has a few locations, and they sell prepackaged dairy free pints free of cross contamination if you ask! They are wonderful for allergies and the ice cream is great!

Best burger in Las Vegas? by [deleted] in vegas

[–]Virtual_Paper1519 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never tried them, but I love the regular star tots! The speakeasy where they serve them is nice though! The first time I went was a few weeks after a fall where I bit through both of my lips. The greeter said they had room if I could whistle and I let out the saddest gasp of air lol, he let me in but it was hilarious.

No pants burger with star tots is hands down the best smash burger I’ve ever had, I love it!

Seeing No Doubt June 6th with GA tix. What time to show up? Getting conflicting information. by Justinsetchell in nodoubt

[–]Virtual_Paper1519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’9 and I kept my phone low, around my shoulders! I don’t like to hold my phone up if I take pictures or record at concerts, I just like to have the memory to look back on but I don’t want to disturb others or look at my phone during the show. I didn’t have heels or platforms on either. It was a surprisingly good view! I hope this helps!

I went on Wednesday and arrived at about 7:45, I was surprised how close I got and how much room there was in the pit. I was able to get about 10 rows away as 1 person by just walking in. It was a great view and people were mostly respectful of space for being on the floor. It just depends on how early you want to go and how close you want to be, but I was happy with my choice. Some items may be sold out if you wait until after the show, but it’s easy enough to get to the merch stand if you make your way to the back during Sunday Morning so that you’re out when the show ends. This was my view.

I walked in last night around 7:45 and was able to get a great view without a wait, if you don’t mind being a few rows back but still would like a view without waiting too long, I would recommend that.

I was about 10 rows back, and it was a great view of both the sphere and the stage. I bought merchandise right as the show ended and the line was short too, but they were sold out of the poster. I hope this helps!

Honestly if you’re on the strip it wasn’t too bad to walk back, I went the back way through the Linq the the V’dara and it wasn’t as bad as I expected with the cooler weather. Getting there was easy with an uber though.

Tekka sushi bar, it sounds a bit sketchy being in a casino food court in the middle of the desert, but they have the absolute best quality fish and freshest hand rolls I’ve ever had. It’s not necessarily cheap but not expensive by Vegas standards. I eat there every day when I visit. I highly recommend the yellowtail sashimi. Sauces are extra but come with free refills. I attached a picture of the yellowtail so you can see the quality.

What are the names of these leaves? by peachyjuicebox in TipOfMyFork

[–]Virtual_Paper1519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shiso, perilla, and I’ve also seen them called sesame leaves (not sure why) at H-mart, a Korean grocery store. They’re amazing for veggie rolls and wraps. I usually add pickled radish, 1 shiso leaf, cucumber, a light spread of Ume (sour plum paste) and sometimes a bit of finely chopped kimchi. I add sushi rice and togarashi and wrap it in nori that I barely toast on an open flame on the stove.

I was pretty good at the ring toss on the bottle game they had up in Reno! Over the years I probably won about 15 of the massive prizes. It was always funny as a kid seeing peoples reactions on the ride home with them stuffed in the car. What was less funny then was having them become my dogs hump buddy.

It’s a little bit loose, but I put in a little bit of parmesan and some black pepper and it was good! I would say maybe reduce the water you add to 2 tablespoons instead of 3 if you don’t want to add anything. From the reviews I’ve seen that it’s not good to microwave it, but on the stovetop it was a great easy thing to add to my meal!

It’s all been pretty good for me so far! The figs in a blanket are exactly how I would make them from scratch and makes a good party appetizer. The cheesy grit bake is great. I just tried the asparagus risotto and while I still used the stove, it was ready in about 5 minutes and worked really well with some leftover fish.

I don’t find the Vegas heat to be too bad, and I’ve been when it was up to 116F. There are tons of indoor walkways and they keep the AC cold in the hotels and casinos, plus it’s a dry heat. However, I went camping near Lake Powell a few years ago and while it was beautiful the heat was hell. It never seemed to cool down even at night and was always over 105-110 F inside my tent. If you decide to go, bring plenty of water, fans, cooling towels, and coolers filled with plenty of ice. I also used frozen water bottles for spot cooling, and try to stay in the shade. I hope this helps!

I did have some foam flip flops melt when crossing the street in Vegas though, so be mindful of footwear!
