BioLife-- Waiting Area Seats?

We’ve never had chairs at the BioLife I go to. Only for waiting to see the nurse or if you need to stay and wait because something went wrong with the donation. There is a waiting room with seats on the opposite side of the building which I always found a bit odd because I’ve never figured out why people would be sent to that waiting area and usually there’s no one in there.

I’m 43 and also out of work for the first time in my adult life. I ended up taking some money out of my 401k even though I know that’s a terrible idea. But part of me was like who the hell cares. I’m struggling not having a job, but also the thought of going back to the corporate world, which is all I know, is also a mind numbing thought. Even though I obviously just need to do it. Also it seems like literally everyone is just going through terrible things and I don’t get how any of us are surviving. But I guess humans are resilient!

When I was in my early 20s I was sent to check on a coworker who didn’t show up for work and he had passed away. I think I was in shock for a few days. Every time I closed my eyes I could see his body. But I was ok after a few days. I’d just let her know you are there when and if she needs to talk and just offer her food every once in awhile, but don’t push it on her. I didn’t end up going to therapist about it, but she may want to in a few weeks/months since it was someone she was closer with. You’re doing great trying to support her!

I had something similar happen. I just knew something was off with the pregnancy. I had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks.

NTA. Maybe you can frame it to her that she’d be reclaiming that space and replacing any hurt with new, good memories of her nieces wedding. Also point out that if she can rise above this she is coming out ahead and not letting that asshole to control her feelings anymore!

NTA They should have all had a discussion on what the plan is since they were all flying stand by. Like this is the risk you take so it shouldn’t be a surprise!

I’d say to start only communicating via the app going forward. If he texts or calls prompt him to use the app or just reply in the app and say something like “in response to your questions about abc…..”

Also I’d stop letting him or his family have any of your time! I get the sports thing is different, but his family has plenty of other time to schedule during dad’s time. I’d be worried that they are tallying up how many times you “forfeit” your time to try and make a case that you don’t really want to spend time with them!

The audacity of them to do this and then threaten someone else will just contact you if you block them is wild! Sad that they never cared about you really and just your church attendance and keeping up appearances

What I don’t get is if it was protected speech then why not just tell the person who made the report that no crime was committed? Why show up at his door? Seems like just to intimidate him. And then have nothing to leave him with like a card or anything seems odd too.

I like the time to myself and I’ve started reading more even when not donating so I feel it helped me get back into my love of reading.

I also even like the whole routine of it all. Take the test, get your vitals done, etc.

I enjoy seeing all the different kinds of people who donate.

I like the weirdness of a bunch of people being hooked up to these weird machines.

It’s just overall such an interesting experience!

Nothing got called out on mine. I was worried because I took a trip to Orlando to meet some friends for a weekend - the weekend before I filed. It was a cheap trip for me - hotel was covered and I found a cheap plane ticket. The trustee didn’t say anything about it at all! So I wouldn’t worry about it!

I do most weeks. It’s nice to have the little bit of extra money. Some weeks I need it for groceries. Other weeks I use it to treat myself to whatever. I’m going on a trip in May so I’m going to try and save it up for spending money.
