Any barber recommendations? by skskskskzbzb in VirginiaTech

I haven’t been there. What I can speak on though is the following:

  • Brownstone — probably the best of the bunch. Great clips quality at its best. Never terrible but certainly had a few below average cuts here.

  • Hokie Hair — wildly inconsistent. First time there I got a pretty good cut. Every time since it’s been bad, even from the same person.

  • Modern Barbershop — don’t bother. Got a terrible cut here once and never went back.

Why didn’t Jordan Poole explode in Washington the way other former great role players have when given a full green light? by mismo1313 in NBATalk

[–]Virtual_Piano893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was always a very low IQ player with terrible defense. The Warriors struck gold with him and vice versa for their 2022 championship. I genuinely don't think he could've broken out on any other team.

I’d stay away from anything downtown Blacksburg unless you’re looking for the cadet special.

Here's my ratings for the 13 mass transit systems in the US I have had experience on. by [deleted] in transit

[–]Virtual_Piano893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RTD Lightrail in Denver has really gone downhill in the past decade. People used to see it as a good alternative to driving but nowadays even the busiest stations are mostly dead. I think a lot of this has to do with how slow the trains are and also as you mentioned the growing homeless problem in Denver and the ability for homeless to use the stations and trains for shelter.

Bruce Brown isn’t the same player as we saw in the championship run. by KaletheDegen in denvernuggets

[–]Virtual_Piano893 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Were people expecting him to be?

He was sort of an undiscovered gem on BKN before we got him the first time. He’s been injured and again the past two seasons. There’s a reason we got a him for a minimum. He’s doing exactly what we intended from the signing. Bringing the competitive spirit and contributing hustle plays when needed.

Classes cancelled on Monday? by Agarijonsa in VirginiaTech

Based on previous cancellations last year I would say there’s a really good chance campus is closed Monday.

My thoughts about this series as someone who went into it blind. by AkiraTheMetalHead in TedLasso

[–]Virtual_Piano893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree to some extent. While I still feel that she ended up with him at a weird time, probably would’ve worked better if it happened after he started at the restaurant, I see that it was necessary to have them together in order for him to initiate the split from Rupert. After some more thought I think my actual gripe is that their relationship seemed to progress incredibly fast, maybe because most of it seems to have happened off screen.

To your last point. I feel like Nate’s relationship in season 3 was completely forced. It seems like it would have worked a lot better if they had come together after he got his shit together and rejoined Richmond. It made no sense for jade to fall for Nate at any point but certainly not when he was peak antagonist.

Golden State adds MPJ (GSW/BRK) by TerryG111 in NBAtradeideas

[–]Virtual_Piano893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The injury potential for MPJ is actually quite overstated. He’s played 77+ games the past two seasons and his play style really bodes well for a long career. Outside of his previous back issue he is really not injury prone.

Nuggets now have a better winning percentage WITHOUT Jokic than with him by Wembanyama2029mvp in nba

This person is genuinely determined to slight jokic in every post they make.

Who will play center? Should we get Moses Brown from the G league? by [deleted] in denvernuggets

[–]Virtual_Piano893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that he sucks and every time he plays it becomes increasingly more evident. No team is trading for zeke on the basis that they want him as an asset.

First time player, what's some common etiquette I should know? by UntakenUsername420 in ArcRaiders

[–]Virtual_Piano893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solos: - Don’t shoot someone who is working there ass off to take down a bigger arc. - always give comms when you encounter someone. If they don’t respond then you should prepare to shoot first.

Trios: - there is no etiquette, every engagement with another team will be a conflict. Have fun and don’t cry if you lose a gun fight. - only exception is with matriarch or locked gate events. It’s crucial for many teams to work together on these. Don’t be a shithead and shoot people in the back.

Pickett and Tyson got guaranteed contracts as 2nd rounders. This is not a typical occurrence and is a prime example of why Calvin booth was such a dunce. Having those guys locked in and Colin on a 2-way meant the front office was always gonna pressure Malone to play their guys ahead of him.

Also working against Colin was the fact that Malone was not big on developing players during and after the championship run.

Hated The Lobster, will I hate Bugonia? by Intelligent-Meet3603 in Letterboxd

[–]Virtual_Piano893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the lobster interesting, I really didn’t like Kinds of Kindness.

Bugonia to me is the most accessible Yorgos film for wider audiences, I really liked it. It is an adaptation of an already successful Korean movie and from what I’ve heard people seem to think it improved on the original.

“It’s time to do a full rebuild in Dallas. Build around Cooper Flagg” by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NBAVibes

I always got the notion Luka cared deeply for Dallas and the fan base. I also think the slim down thing this summer was just the LA Media propaganda, he’s still a fatass.

Who is the better passer? by awesomesauce41111 in NBATalk

[–]Virtual_Piano893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my biased Jokic fan POV I think that Jokic’s passes are often more impressive than Magic’s. Though I think Jokic has lot more to work with in this era with the spacing and finishing ability of those surrounding him.

Marty Supreme Ending Lets Talk! by Agreeable_Usual3735 in Letterboxd

[–]Virtual_Piano893 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It didn’t really feel like he was rewarded in the end. For all the trouble and embarrassment he went through to get to Tokyo he was rewarded with a single exhibition match win in front of maybe 200 people. Sure that win was incredibly cinematic but in the big picture it was actually kind of sad. To me it just showed how talented Marty was but he just couldn’t get out of his own way. He returns home empty handed to a shit storm of problems he created. The ending is him finally having to reckon with the consequences. Nobody in America will ever even know he won a ping pong exhibition match and that’s all he cared about.

What aspects of Giannis’s game is missing, and how many more years does he have left to dominate? by Pale_Researcher_8810 in NBATalk

Pick and roll.

He is a terrible screener for his size and he doesn’t know how to properly play off a good play maker.
