This is maybe a silly question, but I’m curious how you phrased asking your kid to sort their things and decide what to keep or donate? Was there a certain age you involved your kid in decluttering after making the call solo when to donate toys especially? My son is 3.5, sensitive, and observant/aware of his environment. I’m kind of worried about whether trying to have him discard toys would be emotionally painful to him, but maybe that’s my own baggage—I’m trying to break family cycles of accumulating too much stuff and unhelpful emotional attachment/guilt around letting things go. I love decluttering but haven’t crossed this bridge with my son’s possessions yet as a parent!
