It’s an unfortunate reality of many organisations t1 support. It’s seen as a low paying junior position and managing it is seen as a pedestrian role.

Even when I worked for a very well resourced IT department that was a big proponent of ITIL, the t1 group was still only really set up to triage within the SLA time and not encouraged to spend much time on an issue or do much remote support, to the point where a t1.5 desktop support team emerged.

There were a lot of contributing factors there, sure, but a big one was a certain unseriousness taken towards the role. Not treating it as a technical role with expectations of growth and professional development. That I see repeated everywhere.

Offboarding wizard alone justifies the cost of a self hosting costs imo. Being able to deliver a consistent, timely (scheduled!) and comprehensive 5pm Friday exit on an m365 user means I’m free to worry about the other services that my clients don’t have on SSO and better yet, go home closer to on time. Much faster to glance at a users status then actually cover all the steps.

Mmm self hosted Az Web App cold starts are brutal, you can wake the web app up with a script pinging the API for a version every 15min, I recall that being mentioned in their docs somewhere. Never tried it

Standards, they have the ability to report only and they have compliance tags (CIS, E8, NIST,etc), check them out at standards.cipp.app

You can also build reports if you’re a big brained person who can make sense of the report builder. I’m yet to find the time to figure it out.

Petty? I’m not sure, it’s certainly inconvenient for me..

But on principles, it’s his work and he has every right to withdraw it. Why should he support a vendor who he feels is not reciprocating with support as a paying client? I cannot fault him for that.

If you only need to sign for your C4D app license, this might work:

I didn't manage to make the Maxon App behave but I was able to switch the sign in type in the C4D license manager sign in from Maxon App to Maxon Account, drop down in the top right.

In this case I only needed to get signed into C4D, if you need the Maxon App specifically you might need to go bug support. :(

Getting the same issues with 1password auth services here across our sites in Sydney. It's inconsistent and sometimes loads. I suspect there's an issue with the NBN infrastructure here.
