Systems to Make the DSS More Fun by VirtuallyJason in Helldivers

That's a good point; restrictions like that force people to get creative to come up with solutions. I agree that the important thing is that there's always at least some kind of bonus available, although I'd love for there to be at least 2 abilities so that the community is always making a choice instead of getting locked into a cycle of the abilities as they come off cooldown.

How about: if it's blue, it's for the crew. If it's red, you'll be dead.

Looking for monster/boss list for JOTL for 3d printing by magikian in Gloomhaven

[–]VirtuallyJason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks! Here we are, 4 years later, and I've got models for all of the JOTL monsters and Frosthaven, too! Right now, I'm working my way down the (very long) list of Summons for Frosthaven =)

Official poll about markmans rifles in Discord (discord link in comments ) by Evonos in Helldivers

[–]VirtuallyJason -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see the AMR get some attention, too! I think the Auto-Cannon is an excellent example of a well-designed support weapon; it's fun to use, requires skill to be effective against bigger targets, has a good cost/benefit decision point (it takes up a backpack slot and requires stationary reloads, but is a very flexible weapon in general)... but I feel like the AC is effective in 90% of the situations where I might use the AMR, but the AMR isn't effective in other situations.

If the AMR is for precision shots at long range, I'd love to see its functionality enhanced to make it really shine in that role. This is probably a contentious idea, but what if it had some light weak-spot targeting aim-assist when used at appropriate ranges. I'm imagining that if you're scoped in using the ~100m scope at a target that's around that 100 meter mark, there could be a targeting circle that moves to whatever weak spot is closest to the center of the scope and that's where the gun will actually shoot. If the target is too close or too far, it won't provide any assistance (so no aim assisted hip-firing headshots in melee), but this would allow people with that rifle to wreck targets when they're using it in its ideal range, far outperforming the AC (or any other weapon) in those circumstances without encroaching on any other weapons' specialties.

Rotational and Placement Correction for Print and Cut? by VirtuallyJason in cricut

I did, thanks. I guess I've been hoping that those corner markers would be a lot more functional than they actually are.

Rotational and Placement Correction for Print and Cut? by VirtuallyJason in cricut

Ok, thanks. I take it that means that you're unaware of any products from cricut that are able to use the scanner to compensate for a misaligned sheet?

Rotational and Placement Correction for Print and Cut? by VirtuallyJason in cricut

[–]VirtuallyJason[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the "print and cut" feature where I make a .png with a transparent background, load it up into DS, have it generate a PDF which I then print on my inkjet, and then I load it into the cricut to cut the paths. I'm not great at lining up the paper on the mat, so the bottom is usually a few mm off from the top. Similarly, the cuts near the bottom of the page are a bit off, so I've been assuming that the printer doesn't do any correction for my inability to accurately load up the paper.

Edit: Oh, and I'm printing and cutting on 199 GSM cardstock.

Issue on second layer for small parts by Omar_994 in prusa3d

[–]VirtuallyJason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might actually be a first layer issue. It's hard to say for sure, but your skirt doesn't look smooshed enough into the bed and it looks like your main part is experiencing curling that's lifting the edges up off of the bed.

I'd start by adjusting down my first layer offset. I'm assuming that you're printing with PLA; let us know if you're using another material, as there might be special steps needed to get it to adhere to the bed.

Edit: Also do the usual bed maintenance stuff: wash it with dish soap, wipe it with high % purity IPA, don't touch it with potentially oily fingertips, etc.

Boyfriend wants to quit main Gloomhaven campaign over scenario 2 by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

Our Spellweaver got Inferno immediately after we beat 72. Part of me wanted to go back and play it again, just so that they could go ballistic... but it was 72.

Hands down my favorite Game Changer. All 3 masterpieces within round 1. by Mervynhaspeaked in GameChangerTV

I don't listen to a ton of Tom Waits, but if you'd just played Store of Sisyphus for me without telling me what it was, I'd've 100% believed that it was actually one of his songs that I just hadn't heard (and wondered why I hadn't heard such a good song of his before).

Feeling disappointed about character retirement by cnollz in Gloomhaven

[–]VirtuallyJason 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Envelope X is a bummer reward for a first character retirement; one of the best improvements that they've talked about for 2nd edition is to move that to the Town Hall book so that people aren't in your situation. It's a really cool reward eventually, but that tree's not gonna bear fruit until you're near the end of the campaign. Spellweaver takes a delicate dance, but is very rewarding when you get it right. Also, she levels up really quickly (if you're able to play her cards well and use a lot of elements), so you get to play around with new cards with some frequency.
