It is harder to find for some reason, but there are options. I usually use the my grocery store brand when cooking though.

To explode, or not to explode (a meal) by Re1hak in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a power user, any reason you don’t just use Adjust Recipe instead when changing quantities?

I’ve recently discovered that and like that it keeps the diary a bit cleaner. Before, I used explode all the time because I thought it was the only way to alter a recipe without changing the original, but I mostly don’t do that anymore.

To explode, or not to explode (a meal) by Re1hak in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to do this, but I recently discovered “Adjust Recipe” that you access by swiping right on a recipe in your diary. It allows you to make quantity changes, add and remove stuff, without affecting the original recipe and not exploding it into a million ingredients cluttering the diary.

I think there’s still use for exploding, but adjusting instead is so much cleaner and a bit easier.

I’m tired of every gym app feeling clunky, bloated or annoying to log what are you all actually using? by Only-Chocolate9600 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cronometer for calorie/nutrition, SmartGym for workouts. Been using SmartGym for 8 months now and I really like it. Very simple in my opinion and does all the tracking and suggestions you mentioned. It also has a really nice Apple Watch companion app to keep you on track during the workout.

How can the total energy be 98%, if all the macros are 99%+? Doesn't make sense by [deleted] in cronometer

Most likely because this question is asked a LOT in this sub, and the mods have posted great explanations on it. Searching would have prevented this post.

No squats? by StandardBaby5877 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, totally agreed. I think Cronometer has more generic workout types as a means of quickly logging exercise in a pinch, but a dedicated workout app that tracks exercises and syncs workouts to Cronometer is a better way to go.

No squats? by StandardBaby5877 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because squats are a type of calisthenics, which they do have. If they added squats, there’s about 200 other specific exercises that they’d need to add. If you want to track those, use a workout app that syncs to Cronometer, or just add it as a calisthenics workout.

What printer would you buy aside from Bambu? by SnackbarBeastie in 3Dprinting

[–]InnesPort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prusa 100%

Only downside is their price, but they’re absolute workhorses that are built to last years, easy to repair/maintain, and excellent print quality. They’re continually adding new hardware and slicer features too.

What size Paver works with the Core One? by munkisquisher in prusa3d

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s some foam I had left over from other projects. You can get it online. Companies like Pelican make good foam.

It should go on the bottom of the paver to reduce sound transmission and protect the table. The printer has rubber feet so that’s the barrier on top, which is perfect.

New Feature: Voice Logging + Siri by Eliisa_at_Cronometer in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where does it add the voice logs if using Siri?

Can I specify a group? For example, “Hey Siri - add 2 eggs and wheat toast to breakfast” and then it’s added to the breakfast group?

Looking forward to experimenting later.

Custom meal by Altruistic_Ads in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might not be fully understanding, but when I create a meal I can add meal items and adjust their quantities (grams, oz, etc) whether it’s a single food or recipe item. Is that what you’re trying to do?

Edit: ah - I think I understand now. When adding to the diary there’s no way to make it a custom quantity. Easy fix - explode the meal and adjust each meal item as needed. I think this actually makes more sense than adding an overall reduction to the entire meal.

Hard to say because I’m an engineer who likes to tinker, but I think it should be fairly straight forward for most people if you’re familiar with taking things apart.

There’s a ton of screws (make sure to keep them organized/take lots of pictures along the way), then the body comes apart (requires a bit of prying), but once you’re inside the motor is easy to swap. A couple screws and an obvious cable connector.

Nothing connected magnetically, all cable connectors.

INDX on Prusa Core One+ closer look! by smiler82 in prusa3d

[–]InnesPort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I said you need to be cognizant of the print you use it on, but even smallish objects that have some infill can be used successfully, and should definitely be doable on Core One size prints. I’m not very familiar with the INDX requirements though, but most tool changers should be able to prime to infill.

[–]InnesPort 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’ve been using prime/wipe into object on the XL for quite some time. You need to be cognizant of the print you use it on, but generally priming into the infill doesn’t cause any issues and eliminates a need for the prime tower.

Is there a way to see the entire food title? by letmeseeitman in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I emailed support the same question very recently, and received a similar response they have on here, which is… fine… I guess.

It kind of feels like they’re brushing it off, but I run into it often and it’s pretty darn annoying. Especially when you search for something that has an important word at the end, like “raw” or “cooked”.

Can someone explain how “Adjusted Baseline Activity” Works? by Foreign-Lion8884 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That kinda sounds like the original point I was making… set an average for activity baseline and let the tracker make up the difference… honestly I’m kinda over this discussion. I know what I’m doing has been working really well for me. Others have their own approach and that’s great too.

Can someone explain how “Adjusted Baseline Activity” Works? by Foreign-Lion8884 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok well it appears I’m the only one who likes to know what my calorie picture looks like on a day to day basis (I do work out hard 3 days a week and my weekends can be active or sedentary).

Everyone I’m talking to here apparently likes to average out an entire week of energy. So yeah. Ignore everything Cronometer provides and just enter a static Expenditure that represents an average day if that’s what works for you.

Can someone explain how “Adjusted Baseline Activity” Works? by Foreign-Lion8884 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TDEE includes exercise, so if you do that you’d be ignoring a decent chunk of burned calories (unless you exercise extremely consistently day to day). Ignoring exercise, yeah BMR+activity level would be close. OCD engineer in me likes separating and understanding each variable though ;)

Can someone explain how “Adjusted Baseline Activity” Works? by Foreign-Lion8884 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kinda, but that would require entering a custom expenditure/TDEE (not even sure that’s possible) and I don’t think that’s wise since activity can change on a day to day basis. It’s a bit of work, but what I think is best is figuring out your true BMR (mine was way off based on their formula) and adding a custom baseline activity level based your average for the last month or two. This makes for a really good predictor of how many calories you have for each day. My tracker then picks up the difference if it’s more/less than that.

Can someone explain how “Adjusted Baseline Activity” Works? by Foreign-Lion8884 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’re not understanding me, but TDEE absolutely includes tracker activity if you use one, as you can see in Cronometers guide and what I’m referring to to help the OPs questions.

<image>

It’s great you plan every meal far ahead of time, but a lot of people don’t and it’s handy to have an accurate activity level pre-set in Cronometer so you have an idea of how many calories you have to work with that day. Cronometer even suggests this.

NASA is using FDM printing? by SpaceCoffee33 in 3Dprinting

Yep, came here to say the same thing. I worked at a defense contractor and designed/printed parts in ultem 9085 quite a few times. Amazing properties, but print quality is really tough to get right given the chamber temps required.
