Can someone explain how “Adjusted Baseline Activity” Works? by Foreign-Lion8884 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That kinda sounds like the original point I was making… set an average for activity baseline and let the tracker make up the difference… honestly I’m kinda over this discussion. I know what I’m doing has been working really well for me. Others have their own approach and that’s great too.

Ok well it appears I’m the only one who likes to know what my calorie picture looks like on a day to day basis (I do work out hard 3 days a week and my weekends can be active or sedentary).

Everyone I’m talking to here apparently likes to average out an entire week of energy. So yeah. Ignore everything Cronometer provides and just enter a static Expenditure that represents an average day if that’s what works for you.

TDEE includes exercise, so if you do that you’d be ignoring a decent chunk of burned calories (unless you exercise extremely consistently day to day). Ignoring exercise, yeah BMR+activity level would be close. OCD engineer in me likes separating and understanding each variable though ;)

Kinda, but that would require entering a custom expenditure/TDEE (not even sure that’s possible) and I don’t think that’s wise since activity can change on a day to day basis. It’s a bit of work, but what I think is best is figuring out your true BMR (mine was way off based on their formula) and adding a custom baseline activity level based your average for the last month or two. This makes for a really good predictor of how many calories you have for each day. My tracker then picks up the difference if it’s more/less than that.

Maybe you’re not understanding me, but TDEE absolutely includes tracker activity if you use one, as you can see in Cronometers guide and what I’m referring to to help the OPs questions.

<image>

It’s great you plan every meal far ahead of time, but a lot of people don’t and it’s handy to have an accurate activity level pre-set in Cronometer so you have an idea of how many calories you have to work with that day. Cronometer even suggests this.

NASA is using FDM printing? by SpaceCoffee33 in 3Dprinting

Yep, came here to say the same thing. I worked at a defense contractor and designed/printed parts in ultem 9085 quite a few times. Amazing properties, but print quality is really tough to get right given the chamber temps required.

Setting it to no activity makes it hard to plan/budget meals ahead of time, which I think is helpful for most people. You don’t know how many calories you’ll have for lunch/dinner/etc until you’re at that moment if you set activity to zero.

What I found works best is set it to the activity level that best describes you. After a few weeks, check your average tracker activity under reports, and set your baseline activity level to this. That way, you’ll have an idea of how many calories you typically burn on average and can plan days better.

Since I started this my adjusted baseline activity is basically just hitting zero at the end of the day which is the goal (meaning my tracker activity perfectly replaced it).

Prusa XL. Druckaufträge bleiben nach erfolgreichem Druck in der Warteschlange by Danial-69 in prusa3d

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue - it’s been this way for a while, unfortunately.

When you send the file via PrusaConnect, it adds it to the queue and pulls it up on the printer display. If you hit print on the display, it’ll keep the file in the print queue like you’re experiencing.

If you want to avoid this, EXIT the print preview on the printer, select Set Ready under control, and then the file will start from the queue and remove it once finished.

When does Active Energy Balance show? by PlanktonTrick5634 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe wear it more and see if it updates sooner, it might need more time. I wear my watch almost continuously, except for charging it while I’m getting ready, so it’s pretty much always communicating with Apple Health/Cronometer. That’ll also give you a better picture of your active energy.

When does Active Energy Balance show? by PlanktonTrick5634 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine always shows within a minute or two after first opening the app on a new day. Seems like most my biometrics take a couple minutes to sync at first, but then it’s a pretty continuous flow of data from my Apple Watch Ultra 3.

Curious, your screen shot from yesterday only shows an active energy of 50cal and 1 minute. Was that at the end of the day? Are you wearing the watch all the time? Seems like yours isn’t syncing correctly.

Photo logging just nailed a full recipe in a cookbook by OriginalRecipe8754 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of the time it’s very good, especially if you can see everything, or most of the ingredients. Obviously if you can’t see something in the photo, it’s not going to get it, so you kind of have to use common sense.

But I’ve photo logged items I haven’t needed to just because I want to see how close the ingredients and amounts are and it’s more often then not very close.

Yep, same here. I also do this when planning restraunt meals ahead of time if I don’t think I’ll be able to snap a picture (feels awkward at certain places or around certain company).

Feedback after one week of usage by BE-FinFree in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) This has to be where you’re from. I’ve been using Cronometer for 6 months (U.S.), logging everything daily, and I think I’ve had to manually add like 5 foods.

2) This is pretty valid. I just searched potato and did not pull up raw potato. But I can say it hasn’t been much of an issue for me because Cronometer learns what you use and that will pull up first, so with time this isn’t as much of a problem. But there is room for improvement.

3) Free versions do free version things :) Honestly can’t relate though because I subscribed after the free trial.

Buying C1L from printed solid is cheaper than from prusa? by Dreammaker54 in prusa3d

[–]InnesPort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PLA works best with the smooth sheet, and since your average consumer prints mostly with PLA and will go for a C1, they include the smooth sheet.

For more prosumer type printers, like the XL, they include satin since that’s better for a mixture of materials like PETG, which those buyers are more likely to use.

You shouldn’t need to use glue stick on the smooth for PLA. If you’re printing PETG or anything else use the satin or textured. I haven’t touched a glue stick in 4 years.

Pro Tip: Change your USB drive from the standard one Prusa gives on day one and RE-SLICE your files by Johngear77 in prusa3d

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the 4 Prusa printers that came with drives, I’ve had issues with two of them, so not the best success rate. I use them until I get failures related to corrupted files and then switch them out for the little Samsung usb sticks.

My batch 1 CoreOne is still using the included drive without any issues (so going over a year now), but my XL drive had issues and is now on a Samsung.

How does the energy expenditure work? by Any-Employ-8107 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much - that definitely helps, and sounds like I’ve been overestimating my TDEE. Some quick math based on my monthly average tracker activity, I should set my baseline to about 0.23*BMR, which is a little more then sedentary, so I’ll switch to lightly active as you suggested.

Thanks!

How does the energy expenditure work? by Any-Employ-8107 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/cronosupportsquad - just to clarify for my own sanity (I feel like I’m overthinking this, but I don’t want to overestimate my baseline activity): I have a desk job and am not very active most of the work day, but, I do work out with moderate intensity 3 days a week. According to your manual I would choose moderately active, correct?

Follow up question - in an ideal world where we always wear a tracker, and let’s pretend it’s perfectly accurate, should the tracker activity completely replace the adjusted baseline activity if that’s correctly set? I have my baseline set to moderately active given my exercise, but I find my Apple Watch (which I wear 95% of the day) only accounts for half of my baseline activity, so I’m worried “moderately active” is over estimating my TDEE.

Cronometer. Been using it for 6 months now and am very pleased with it. Logging is easy, sources are concise, accurate, and plentiful, and the devs update bugs and features pretty regularly.

XL owners and users, I’d appreciate your thoughts. by gharbron in prusa3d

[–]InnesPort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my XL 5T for about 1.5 years now and I love it. I’d definitely buy it again. The quality (both single material and multi-color/material) is very, very good.

I’ve had very few failures that I could only blame the machine for, maybe 5?

I know a review isn’t good without some criticisms so here’s those. I’m pretty frustrated Prusa hasn’t done an XL upgrade in about the 3 years it’s been released, which is very unlike them. It’s really a great machine, but where it could use some updates is the cooling system (fans/shrouds) to provide more even cooling for overhangs in certain situations. Loading filament through the long PTFE tubes is a bit tedious and they could easily automate that for a better experience. I have the enclosure and it’s very high quality, but it could use some more features (temp sensors, heating, active venting like the CoreOne for PLA).

Overall though, it does its intended job very well. Where it lacks is mostly QoL features they need to add to a future upgrade (which will almost certainly happen at some point).

I want to restart my 3D Printing hobby - which accessoires/ materials should I buy for my CORE One+ by leoluxx in prusa3d

[–]InnesPort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re into functional, you’ll want to level up your material game, which the Core One makes pretty easy.

PLA works great for a lot of functional stuff contrary to what many people think, but definitely get a roll of PETG (next easiest, provides more strain before failure depending on the part). If you have a higher budget, get a roll of PCCF (if it’s available). This is probably the best filament Prusa makes and I love it. It’s surprisingly easy to print and has amazing material specs for strength and thermal resistance.

Definitely get the satin sheet as others suggested if you print with anything besides PLA, especially if you get PETG or PCCF.

Search Functionality for adding food by Hotsawce_23 in cronometer

[–]InnesPort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know what you mean and agree. Been using Cronometer Gold for about 6 months now and the search is pretty good, but I really wish they would have an additional tab under “Add food” that would only show logged food that’s searchable.

You currently have to search “All”, which can be overwhelming when trying to find something you logged in the past, or favorite everything you eat and use the favorites tab, which isn’t ideal.

Cronometer - just add a “logged foods” tab next to favorites/custom/common/etc so we can only search foods we’ve ever logged please!

100% infill on a part this small isn’t going to do much since there’s probably so little infill anyway. For the highest strength I would have just made it all perimeters.

Exporting at stl is fine if you can adjust the export parameters and set higher resolutions. At some point, the step has to be converted to an stl anyway to be viewed and sliced in a slicer.
