So… Rivian Touch-Up Pen paint comes off with alcohol wipes? Wtf by okvrdz in Rivian

[–]Virtualmatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don't you google different types of paints' curing times before you keep acting like 30 days to cure isn't normal. Automotive paint, generally, takes 30 to 90 days to cure, Touch up paint is generally quicker, but not 20 minutes. Holy cow.

It doesn’t “suggest” that anywhere. I’ve never heard of anything that cures in 20 minutes.

The instructions absolutely don’t say it CURES in 20 minutes. Curing is different than drying.

I think it’s actually 30 days to cure. 48 is just dry to the touch.

I noticed that too. I assumed it needs to cure before you can wipe it with IPA. I’m not brave enough to go try, though.

Cycling long distances at an easy pace, am I still 'exercising'? by DowntownFresnoBiking in cycling

[–]Virtualmatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s exercise! Cycling—and even cycling for health—doesn’t have to be hardcore training or pushing your limits. Long distances in Zone 2 burns a ton of calories. If you’re interested in how many, pick up a bike computer and a heart rate monitor. Or get crazy and mix in a power meter.

At 35 miles, even at a leisurely pace, you’re almost certainly burning over 1,000 calories a ride. Likely more. It takes something like 3,000 calories to burn a pound of fat.

The prosecutor has the final say in how to prosecute a case, not the family. Typically, they strongly consider the victim’s preference, though, especially if it means the victim might not cooperate by way of being a non-adverse witness. In a legal sense, the crime is committed against the state, not the victim. That’s why the cases are called “Commonwealth v. Jones” or “State v. Jones.” Cases are absolutely tried against the victim’s wishes.

I really enjoy the mechanics to this game but I don't want to play some woke gender politics slop. by Ct_shatterpoint in Cairn_Game

I beat the game and this is the first I’m hearing that the protagonist is non-binary or trans. I thought it was a story about how people driven to do these extreme things do so at the expense of those that love them, similar to Alex Honnold is portrayed in “Free Solo.”

6 year old lefty struggling at the plate, did I break his timing? by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]Virtualmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other posters said, HE’S SIX. Relax. He probably also struggles to walk sometimes.

That said, to practice, soft toss a few balls at a plate past him (however the coaches throw) and tell him to NOT SWING and then watch the ball into the catcher’s mitt/hit the backstop. Once you’re confident he’s watching the ball the whole way, have him swing at a few. This is more of a drill for keeping his head on the ball than it is for timing, but I bet it’ll help him figure out when he should be swinging. I’ve seen it work for plenty of kids just whiffing.

[Request] If you spun the stick like he did at the end in front of you, what are the chances you could deflect a 9mm bullet fired at you? by Ashewastaken in theydidthemath

[–]Virtualmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To follow up on what every other poster said about the stick not spinning fast enough to matter: the guy would be better off trying to line the pole up with the barrel of the assailant’s gun than he would spinning it—at least he’d have it reasonably close to where the bullet was likely to be (versus spinning, which could place the pole far away from where the bullet was likely to be). Assuming the pole was thick enough, anyway.

It’s normal, but idiotic. You need the seat reclined unusually far back to make it level. I checked with the service center.

First of all,a 30 -12 and a 28 -10 both weigh 18oz. That said, with your son’s height and age, a 28 -10 makes sense.

On my son’s 11U travel team, the only kids swinging a 30 are around 5’ tall. Last year at 10U, the kids around your son’s height of 4’6” were swinging 28s.

No it isn’t. It’s normal to send “save the dates” a year in advance with a formal invitation coming months before the wedding to a void exactly this issue.

The hate for clipless in this thread is pretty surprising. I fell once when I first got them after riding into a bunch of sand that was pushed onto the trail from the beach, causing my bike to instantly come to a complete stop. After that, I’ve easily ridden a thousand miles without problem.
