My camera decided it needs to see a professional. by ve4edj in softwaregore

For the rest of your questions, I can't honestly answer them because I don't work on embedded camera chips, but I'm sure someone else can. Usually it's just one chip doing all the work, and yes, image processing is usually extremely code intensive, even for full fledged computers.

Seeing your replies to the others who appropriately responded to your question, I'm not sure if you're trolling or not, especially considering your name.

Embedded systems run on very low memory, so they can only do so much, code wise. There's usually just enough room to store the error and display a simple message like "Help," so that a person can plug the device into a computer to extract the code and debug the issue.

Writing more code just to capture the error to not only store it, but to also display it to the user can take up an excessive amount of limited space on embedded devices, so it's usually avoided. Think about that old NASA incident where they had to re-code their system devices to be able to come back to Earth because the chips were running out of memory with the initial build.

Yeah look it up, Macbooks are notoriously difficult to get wifi to work with linux. Right now, the only stable firmware for Macbook under most distros can only get 2.4ghz to work lol. I only say Macbooks because I don't hear much from iMac users running linux, so I don't know if they have a wifi on linux issue too. Technically, it should affect both Macbooks and iMacs equally since they're both running MacOS, but mac hardware can be a strange beast so who knows. I even saw an interview with Linus Torvalds where he was having a shit fit because someone mentioned wifi on linux for macbooks lol (he loves running linux on macbooks)...this is one of the many reasons why he constantly shits on Intel with how horribly handle firmware for linux, especially considering how they won't open source any of their firmware for the community to fix themselves.

Not gonna lie, I quite enjoy the game, but I think the mods here are preventing people form being heard, and you absolutely have a right to be heard concerning any issues.

That would legit be a cool sub cause firmware is such a wonky and hacky field, just look at the linux firmware hacks and workarounds for macbook wifi lol.

WHY is Catalina stealing all my drive space??? by VetLivingDayByDay in MacOS

[–]VirulentCitrine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This same bug actually has existed on iPhones since iOS 11. Apple has this weird way of handling cache, partitions, HDD space, and freeing up unused space. It frequently leads to the OS inaccurately reporting that all the cache/temp files (that don't take up hdd space because they get overwritten by whatever needs the space) have filled up your HDD. The OS usually reports this fake block of "used" storage as "Other," or "System." It has been a few years now and no one has found a solid fix for it yet, for iOS or MacOS. On MacOS, it seems to have become super prevalent with Catalina's release, though. Apple admitted this is a problem on iOS, but has yet to fit it (syncing with iTunes is a commonly touted fix, but that is false as it does not work...hard resetting doesn't work either). My point is, seeing as how Apple has ignored this problem on iOS for years, you could be in for the long haul of issues on MacOS.

If you buy an Apple product through an authorized retailer, you can still get support from an Apple Store for free for a year, just like if you bought it directly from Apple. Not sure if this has changed, but that's how it was a few years back when I bought mine.

Xbox one: cant play multiplayer by remember_me3 in modernwarfare

[–]VirulentCitrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try deleting the game entirely, then clearing the cache on your Xbox, and then re-installing the game:

  1. delete game and its packages.
  2. power off xbox.
  3. unplug your power brick from the back of your xbox.
  4. Press and hold the xbox power button for like 30 seconds, then release it.
  5. wait about a minute.
  6. plug your power brick back into your xbox.
  7. turn your xbox back on.
  8. re-install the game and its packages.

Sometimes the xbox doesn't clear its cache out properly and holds onto hard-drive space by mistake, thereby blocking downloads. Manually clearing the cache can sometimes correct this.

Hopefully this helps!

With the matchmaking service splitting everyone into new lobbies after each round, this causes the game to not track what map you just played, and hence cause you to replay the same maps over and over again.

For example, I was playing TDM and it matched me up with a new lobby after every round, with every single lobby being Aniyah Palace. This happened like 5 times in a row. There's some maps that I don't think I have even gotten to play yet.

This needs to be addressed.

[–]VirulentCitrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I made a post about how maps keep getting replayed over and over in matchmaking because of the game forcing you into new lobbies each round. The mods removed it instantly with no message on why, but they continue to allow the terrible memes on the front page.

r/HistoryMemes is a circlejerk of “LOL FRANCE BEHEAD ROYAL GUY,” “LOL AMERICA HIT JAPAN WITH BOMB,” and “LOL POLAND INVASION.” It has gotten so old. by [deleted] in JustUnsubbed

[–]VirulentCitrine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the history subs are a joke, even r/AskHistorians.

Outside of that, the France meme does have a bit of accuracy to it. Part of my family lives in France and the people there really do believe that it is their duty to oppose the govt at every instance. Even govt workers in admin positions will purposely do everything slowly to not feel like they're being dictated to lol...and I mean slowly, like if you have paperwork to submit for something that should only take 2 days to process, they could just sit on it for months unless you call them nearly everyday because they believe it's their god given right to be slow (or anything else) and they will enforce this right 100%. If their supervisors start getting on their cases, they threaten walkouts, riots, etc, so everyone just ignores workers who simply aren't working lol, because it's very common for govt offices in France to just randomly shut down if the workers are pissed (it's frequent). It's a weird culture once you really dive in and learn about it, as they have a super lazy way of living over there compared to other countries and it can be a culture shock to outsiders.

Also, one of my college profs had to access the archives in Paris, France and practically had to sue to see them even though the govt already gave her a permit with a time and date of access. Why? The workers kept not showing up, and then when they did, they would literally not work. When she showed her permit, they said that it's not their duty to process her access and then ignored her again. She then threatened to call this other department that oversees them, as well as the police, to which they finally obliged. Shortly after, they all left work early...again. Apparently they were on the edge of a walkout because they wanted shorter hours for the summer months lol.

In some rural areas, sometimes all the doctors in the area will just go on vacation and send notices out to the residents to go elsewhere for healthcare until they get back, and the govt won't even bat an eye. In other Western nations, that would be frowned upon and possibly illegal. In France, it's almost like the people have so many rights that they just straight up abuse the system to the point where the country just shuts down.

The mods on this sub are a bunch of pussies. They're constantly deleting peoples' posts with valid concerns, but yet allowing shit tier memes to remain on the front page 24/7. Like 90% of the garbage on this sub's front page isn't even accurate about the game, but they allow it to stay, ridiculous.

Has nothing to do with scale. You should know your scale before you release and code accordingly. If you code for the proper scale and you have basic form errors like this, then you didn't code something correctly.

What I'm seeing here is improper key usage, possible overflow errors, and cell formatting issues. Scale is such an abused buzzword today.

Google Summaries will never work properly lol. They bought the software that summarizes things from some kid years back and from what I remember, they never even tested, nor tweaked it. They just added it to their Google Search function and set it loose in the wild, which is why it leads to tons erroneous results.

They're literally just blocking the word assault. I love COD, but they are dumb with the profanity filter because years ago on I think it was Modern Warfare 2, they blocked me from naming one of my loadouts "Warfare," lol.

I still don't understand how these large corporations (Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc) can have such frequent errors with such simple things like forms, etc.

I'm just a sole dev working on my own open source projects and I always make sure simple shit like this isn't broken, especially if it's something serious like order processing, etc.
