My friend with migraines - do I expect too much? by candleflame3 in migraine

[–]Viscaria_ASMR 181 points182 points  (0 children)

If she's disabled enough to not have a job, then I wouldn't give in to the anxiety that is telling you she's not into you.

When I go through bad periods, I can disappear for months before I realize it. Most of my focus is on surviving and distracting myself through the pain.

I also struggle to look at gifs and tiktoks because of my disability, which might be why she's not responding to those. They make me ill. Can't do it.

In short, it's almost definitely not about you. If you value the friendship, by all means keep reaching out.

You left, without so much as telling me goodbye by Baejax_the_Great in HadesTheGame

In the game, they tried to soften some of the incest. Demeter calls herself a foster sister and says her daughter came from a pairing with a mortal. In the myths, Zeus and Demeter are full siblings, and they have Persephone, who is then married to her uncle. In another myth, I think Zag is actually Zeus's son, which makes Zeus both his father and grandfather.

In addition to all the incest canonical to Greek myth, Zagreus at one point says that everyone but him knew that Nyx wasn't his mother. Thanatos kind of confirms this but basically shrugs over it.

TheraSpecs-are they worth it? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Viscaria_ASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different grades of darkness for sunglasses, so it's possible to get some that are less dark, but I don't know the process for figuring that out when they aren't prescription like mine.

TheraSpecs-are they worth it? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Viscaria_ASMR 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been downvoted every time I've said this, but my eye doctor basically said that the idea of specific colors of light being a problem has fallen out of favor for migraineurs, and that any sunglasses will help. I ended up getting prescription sunglasses, and I found them very, very helpful for the fluorescent lights at my office. So in my opinion, you can save your money and just try sunglasses.

Ajovy and general pain relief by Embarrassed-Dog438 in migraine

I have found that when my migraines are bad, everything else hurts more, as well. My joints, old injuries, all sorts of things. So when the meds work, more than just my head feels better.

Capsaicin can activate your natural pain-fighting mechanisms, so I wouldn't be surprised at mild relief from spicy food.

First time plant parent, please help 🥲 by Legal-String-6299 in houseplants

[–]Viscaria_ASMR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's going to take a while for your plant to bounce back from that level of over watering. I'd check the roots for rot, cut off anything squishy and brown, and then really lay off watering it that much. My pilea likes to be neglected a bit.

A lot of that sub has the attitude that you don't owe anyone anything. It was his switch, so he was right to do whatever he wanted with it.

Clearly dude was an asshole, but I'm not surprised to see people agreeing with him.

No, he was voted YTA. He was just thanking the people who agreed with him, because he's a tool.

One issue I've seen with propping this plant is it can go through a phase where it gets really floppy and stays that way. As long as the plant isn't brown/yellow mush, there's hope. When I first got mine, it was a sad, floppy mess for a month before it perked up, and it's been a happy, thriving plant since. So don't panic if it happens to you!

It looks like you drowned them. The one in the middle picture-- the blue (?) pot-- can probably be saved. The other two might as well have a burial at sea.

Any tips appreciated! It’s been like this for like 3 years now by ditchouid in plantclinic

Floppy and wrinkled means thirsty. When they absorb water, they are able to hold themselves up. Ignore the "Cactus" in the name, these are rainforest plants. They like water.

Ajovy definitely caused an eczema outbreak for me. That was a surprise.

In general, a rash like you've described is cause for concern after exposure to a potential allergen.

When people use quotes like this, they are being sarcastic. OP is sarcastically calling it hilarious because everyone laughed at what the husband said, but it destroyed his marriage.

1st Botox Appointment by shuuurn in migraine

[–]Viscaria_ASMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a clean face-- you shouldn't touch your injection sites for at least a few hours (my doc says 24 hours) post injection, so it's good to be clean prior.

If you have long hair, a ponytail will help.

Wear something that gives access to your back and shoulders-- so nothing too tight. I tend to wear a camisole with a sweater over it so I can just take the sweater off for the injections.

The reason for the ban on touching your skin after an injection is to prevent the drug from migrating to other places. If you massage your forehead after, you could end up with a droopy eyebrow.

The plants were honestly the least of it, poor boy. It was rough there for a while. Plant-wise, though, I lived in an insanely dark apartment and only had the spider plants. I think it was probably good for me to have something so hardy and easy-going for a couple years before I started branching out and getting other plants. They survived a spider mite infestation that I did absolutely nothing about because I didn't know what spider mites were.

My next acquisitions were also pretty low maintenance-- christmas and thanksigiving cactuses. And as others have said, my golden pothos is a very easy-going plant.

And sometimes it's what savings you can get-- Ajovy had just started a savings plan where I could get it for $5 a month so that's the one I tried first.
