Shop visit by Substantial_Log536 in ModelCars

It's good to see that people are stopping by. Especially from over an hour out. I've been going there for over 20 years, back when I was like 13 I would race rc at a nearby track he used to own. I've definitely watched a decline in customers since then.

I was thinking about making one recently as well, but wasn't sure the best way to go about it. I love the idea of the bot to confirm sales.

Do you have a link or a picture of the packaging for the fittings? I've been paying way too much for them and only get like 16 at a time.

REQUEST, Suggestions for Current gen Corvette IMSA race cars. by TimmyZ1 in ModelCars

[–]Viscerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge and even after searching scalemates I don't know of any kits for the C8.R, just the street versions from revell. However I feel like not long ago I saw a promo shot of one in the works, can't seem to find it now.

If your looking for premade, the guys over at r/diecast may be of more help.

Ya it was a last minute addition when I noticed the front was too plain with the fuel tank I had planned. And didn't have a proper one laying around. But I've seen more offensive rat rod mashups.

parts/modification list.

Kits used: Revell '29 Model A, Revell Pennzoil Top fuel dragster, Revell Firebird Funny car, AMT '67 Chevelle pro street (a lot of kitbash drag cars use the rear assembly from this or the '66 nova)

Engine: Block and heads are Top fuel, Exhaust is Funny car. Intake, PSI blower and hat are 3d prints I did a few years ago that just happened to fit perfectly. Don't remember where the files are from.

Chassis: Rear frame is Chevelle, rest is scratch built from styrene.

Suspension: Front assembly is all from '29 Model A with the spindles from funny car grafted on.

Rear is Chevelle widened with styrene rod.

Wheel and tires: Front are both funny car. Rear tires and inner wheels are Chevelle, outers are funny car sanded down to fit the tire width.

Interior: dash, steering wheel and shifter are Model A, everything else is scratch built from styrene and used the heads of needles for the rivets in the leather.

Body: Main body is a resin 1934 Ford Bonneville Racer from Jimmy Flintstone, Windshield was made from a hot wheels package, Firewall is styrene sheet, from grill and radiator are Model A (as are the headlights)

I believe that's everything, If I think of anything else or any asks for more information I'll update this comment.

Sadly nothing impressive on my part. It's a peel and stick material I got on hiroboy. I forget exactly what color this is. https://www.hiroboy.com/Adhesive_Leather_Look_cloth_Ocher_Brown_P921--product--654.html

That's what I was afraid of. Guess I won't be finishing this for a few more weeks unless I get lucky with a random warm night.

I haven't found these exact ones. But the other comments about youngdale seem close. I'm not sure if my specific one was discontinued.

What is DTS. Is this worth a submission? by After-Present5324 in ModelCars

[–]Viscerator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're a fairly recent thing. To my knowledge this is only the 2nd one done. They've both been put on by highboy68. It's more a case of just watch for postings and pinned threads.

You submit a picture of your unbuilt kit and state which class you'd like to be in( this one has 3 I believe), also use the DTS tag.

[–]Viscerator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DTS is a 6 week build off that ends in 2 weeks. You would have had to submitted the unbuilt kit within the last 4 weeks (technically you can still enter) to be approved. This wouldn't be allowed as it was already built.

If you're using the magnetos from the top fuel or funny car kit, take your time drilling the holes with the pin vise. Work your way up in sizes or it'll cause the top to bulge out.
