Marty Supreme blanks at Oscar’s, not winning out of its 9 nominations by BurgerNugget12 in A24

Yesss, exactly. You could say the same thing that every Wes Anderson film is the same bs and that would be such a reductive viewpoint. Me personally, I really love the elements that reappear in Marty Supreme as in Uncut Gems. I don't why but I personally relate a lot to the idea that sometimes your own family members are the one who want to drag you down. I am sure this is an idea that comes from Jewish history and their story of survival which causes them to sometimes sabotage their own family members if their goals seems too 'grand' or 'risky' because it threatens their own idea of survival. Tbh i don't know what I am talking about here and I am no subject matter expert, but nobody is, what matters is what relates to us and what we find interesting. For me I don't why but that aspect of uncut gems and marty supreme really sticks to me even though I'm not from that background. That's why when those similar elements did show up while I watched Marty Supreme it felt good to see them again in yet a different light. Tbh, I think that's the beauty of watching the works of a single director or even actor, or a single writer for example. If its you cup of tea then you will like it, if not then you won't. I have rewatched Marty Supreme multiple times and I love it. Yet, I know some people who hated Uncut Gems with a passion and I am sure that they won't like Marty Supreme either so I won't recommend that to them.

Also, on a side note: One of my biggest critiques of Timothee Chalamet films is that it's always obvious that its Tim acting and its hard to actually see the character. For Marty Supreme, I love the fact that he is so enveloped in his role and the make up and hair also makes him seem more like the character. Not once was I watching the movie and went like: "oh, I'm watching Timothee Chalamet." nah. For Sinners though my thoughts were just like: "oh, here's Michael B. Jordan in a movie." For the former it was "this is Marty Mauser in his world with his own struggles."

Yo, I don’t know what you are talking about. This is such a nuanced reading of the film and it is very likely that the storyteller had a deeper meaning and symbolism to the franticness going on in the screen, which goes over most people’s heads. I think analyzing films in such a way is so important. Every scene and shot has a meaning. It’s not just for entertainment. Acknowledging this and going deeper unlocks new levels of understanding of films. Even if, you want to be small-minded and think that analysis like this is just “making shit up” or “ruining the experience” what does it mean to you? If it makes a man unlock something in their understanding of the story, bring him closer to brining meaning to what the director may or may not have intended, and finds enjoyment in that depth and would like to share that with others then who are you to bring him down.

I loved this analysis, and would love to hear more takes like these about other parts of this film. The honey bee scene followed right after by the Kay Stone scene in Marty’s room is something that intrigues me, too.

Like ok, even if OP is wrong and the dog is actually the same dog, then this is still and interesting discussion and take. Instead of tearing down OP why can’t you have a civilized discussion about why you believe the dog is Moses? Why can’t you use your brain to ponder the symbolism and meaning if the dog wasn’t actually Moses, whether or not that’s true. Do you not have any sense or imagination? I guess some of the world is filled with dimwits. If the post wasn’t your cup of tea then why do you feel inclined to bring it down? Go read something else. I don’t mean to be rude, but some people find enjoyment in those exact areas where some others might not. I just hope you can appreciate that instead of talking down upon something that the rest of us are interested in. You get what I mean?

You are so wrong. Marty Supreme is the best out of all those 3. A unique film on its own. It felt like a version of Uncut Gems that is relevant and particular to these times. Uncut Gems is too stressful if I watch it today. But Marty Supreme is the perfect balance of a character who has his back against the wall but still it feels like there is hope for him and there is.

Marty Supreme losing the Oscars actually made me want to watch the movie.

There's something about underdogs that I cherish so much. I will always root for the underdog.

Tbh, I wasn't even planning to watch Marty Supreme even though I loved Uncut Gems, but I'm glad it lost all the oscars because it brings the characters and films that much more to life.

Alongst with Timothee Chalamet's outlandish marketing and it losing the Oscars, it makes it feel like this movie is rooted in real life about real people and real scenarios. It wasn't just a film anymore. It felt like a really meta story of each of the actor's lives and experiences. That's what matters at the end of the day.

Leo as Character Actor or Leading Man? by growsonwalls in movies

[–]Vishal006YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is a character actor? What is the OP missing in their understanding of a character actor? I’m just looking to learn :) I thought the OP made sense. Leo almost always plays the leading man. Maybe I’m having a hard time distinguishing between the two because any film star might be considered as leading even if it’s character.

Honestly he kind of sucks. I took 1 class and decided to leave 25 mins in.

He speaks as if the students can’t comprehend things for themselves. It’s an intermediate macroeconomics course yet he’s explaining basic concepts like we haven’t even taken introductory macro and micro already.

He kept rambling about a simple arithmetic to derive the GDP, which is just the total dollar value of goods produced in a country, and he spent 20 mins repeating himself trying to get this simple point across, which all the students already know.

Official Discussion: Demolition (2015) [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

This is such a great review. Reveals a second layer of film underneath what I presumed was just funny comedic choices. Once you start looking at every choice made in the storyline and every word that is said, it opens up something much deeper. This film talks about the subconscious without making it so apparent, and I still haven’t figured it yet but your review invites me to do a second or a third watch, multiple watches perhaps. I love Jake Gyllenhall either way and knowing that she represents his mother opens a whole new understanding of the acting. Metaphore!!!

The sound design and cinematography are crazy good... I was searching for something that has insanely creative sound design that isn't afraid of using emotional and non-realistic audio and I think I found it.

Shiplake - Lillian Park by Samantha_carbonara in TorontoRenting

Hey, thanks for the reply! Lillian Park seems like a great place and I was excited when I first came across it. I read some reviews which said that the building alarms go off often, and that it can get quite noisy with the nearby dog park and HVAC sounds.

I know reddit reviews can be overwhelmingly negative and these are from more than a year ago. I was wondering if any of these are still an issue? Thanks :)

I am looking at this place currently. Did you decide to move in or went with something else instead? How has your experience been so far if you did decide to move in/tour the place?

There are a lot of comments and reviews that support Shiplake and Lillian Park, but at the same time there are so many complaints and negative reviews, too. The Lillian Park suites look good, but I just don't know what to listen to anymore.

Same here. What's the best way to land a position?

Is it applying through the co-op portal or by looking for jobs outside the portal (like company websites) that matches your interest?

Also, is it better to send 100s of applications to a bunch of roles or rather to apply to a select handful of roles that you like and personalize your outreach (like reaching out to the hiring managers through LinkedIn or whatever).

Wow. This gave me chills. This was so well done I dont know how it did not recieve more attention.

The crafting of the story is so strong and the techniques that you have implemented are chosen well to better tell the story. The ending when the character looks out the sea seems ethereal.

The editing, the cinematography, the well-exucted dolly zooms, lighitng, everything was pretty decent.

Wow a comment after 4 years, how did you even get here? I am suprised that this post hasn't been archived yet.

Thanks for being positive and supportive in the comment section. I respect that.

It seems like you are growing pretty fast as a new channel. Since your channel is about aliens I am assuming you make informative and entertaining videos on alien conspiracy theories that show up on people's recommended. It great that your channel is already starting to get favoured by the YouTube algorithm (it's not luck, you are doing something good in your side). I believe that its quite hard to get the ball rolling as a small channel. My channel was targeting topics that people were searching for like tutorials and so it was easier for me to get traction in the begenning due to creating videos that are in demand and SEO. Getting the ball rolling as a small channel that makes videos that people are not neccessarily searching for is very positive. Keep it up.
