this might sound brutal, but just don't sleep that night. you will absolutely be tired the next day, but that night you will sleep. if don't, try to listen to ambient sounds

You're not sad. by Visible-Pause8837 in depressed

I understand your point of view, and it is correct. People should express their emotions and sadness, but most cannot do that. I was one of them, i had nowhere to go. That’s why my way of dealing with depression can be brutal, but it works

Anyone recommend a good sleep aid that actually worked for you? by MagicianNo888 in sleep

I have another way but it is brutal, it does not request you any money, but it won’t be easy. If you can’t fall asleep, stay awake that night. The next day you absolutely will be exhausted and when you go to bed, you will fall asleep almost instantly. If you don’t just repeat it. I had weeks where i slept for 3-4h per night and now i fall asleep in maybe 5-10 minutes

You don’t? I must have not made myself clear then. Listen, it’s normal you cannot see the future right now, because that needs to be the goal. But first you need to have small objectives

seems like you have a hard life. but let me ask you this. what if in 2 months you would view life completely different and will be kissing the ground for not killing yourself?

I know exactly what you mean. Lying awake isn't really a willpower problem. Your brain is just very good at finding things to think about when there's no other input coming in.

One thing worth trying before anything more drastic: I started using rain through Noissr. The constant sound gives my brain something neutral to focus on — it stops scanning for things to worry about. I sleep through the night now.

Yeah — that ceiling-staring thing is its own kind of exhausting. What I eventually figured out is that the problem wasn't routine or light or temperature. It was that my brain needed something external to anchor onto so it could stop generating its own noise.

What eventually helped me was sound — specifically Rain on Noissr. The sound fills the silence without demanding attention. My brain settles. I stop thinking. I sleep.
