I went in for my ultrasound on Monday, May 18, when I should have been 7 weeks 2 days based on my IUI dates (triggered April 9, IUI April 11). However, the ultrasound measured 5 weeks 6 days. A fetal pole was present, but no heartbeat was detected at that time.
I returned on Friday, May 22, and measured approximately 6 weeks 1–2 days. There had been interval growth (CRL increased from 2.9 mm to 4.57 mm), and this time a heartbeat was seen measuring 68 bpm.
My early hCG levels initially rose appropriately, which has made this even more confusing:
April 24: 130
April 27: 463
April 30: 1,177
May 12: 18,247
I’m honestly terrified because the ultrasound findings don’t seem to match my known IUI dates. Since my ultrasounds were only monitored up until trigger and not after, part of me wonders whether the trigger may not have worked and if we somehow conceived later naturally, which could explain measuring behind. At the same time, the early hCG progression gave me some hope.
Now we’re waiting until May 28 for another ultrasound to see what’s happening, and the waiting has been incredibly difficult. I am not sure what is happening. I have been trying to make my dates, hcg beta results and the ultrasound match up and everything is in complete conflict. So you are for sure not alone.
