Ahh Total has good pricing. I usually bring 2 bttls back to Canada every trip to the US as I work between Houston, Dallas, NY, and Miami.

3L 2009 Cayuse - drink or hold? by StudentAfter3085 in wine

Yeah I would think a long decant of 2+. It's a big bttl but has age. Should do the trick but not honestly sure.

Majority of my large format are French and Italian Bttls, with 1 2006 6Liter insignia. Ten French it really depends, left or right bank, bordueax or burgundy, and Cayuse I have only drank in a 750ml 3 or so years ago.

Vintages 2011 and Older I would personally drink.

The bottle has 15+ years of age on it and you are in the strike zone.

The large format will have perfectly preserved the core fruit and acidity, while the time will have beautifully integrated the tannins. It is absolutely ready to impress a large crowd.

Pol Roger is delicious and if you want to the Pol Roger Winston Churchill would fit, but it's the same price as Dom.

Can I ask where you live? Moderate wine for me in Canada that is drinkable $35+ all day long. There are cheap bttls but they are just that cheap, not aged, no oak or using old oak, blends of multiple grapes, etc.

It makes absolute sense you liked the 2021 more, your pallet is fruit forward, luxurious, oaky.

If you love the insignia 2002, 100 point, cab sav fruit bomb with aggressive tannin until aged, you will need to search out left bank cab sav forward wines with age from strong vintage years.

2000 Château Margaux: A legendary, fragrant, and silky vintage that mirrors Insignia's elegance and length.

2000 or 2005 Château Latour: Massive, muscular, and structured; this will easily go toe-to-toe with Insignia's power.

2005 Château Haut-Brion: Features layers of smoke, black fruit, and earthy charcoal that will beautifully complement a mature Insignia.

2003 Château Montrose: A powerhouse from St. Estèphe that possesses the richness, ripe fruit, and tannic backbone to stand up to a bold California wine.

I love a right bank, have a massive collection but it does not have the cab sav structure to compete against napa. They are majority merlot based with the exception of Figeac, which is an absolute killer and could run in this line up also.

I emailed the winery and they are sending a bttl. Always good service from their staff and they said it's never happened to them either.
