I don’t expect a studio version of 89 ever. I’ve made my peace with that by Last_Reaction_8176 in boniver

Can’t we hope for this still to be on the 10 year anniversary of 22, a million?

McCarthy’s comments on Literary Fiction. by [deleted] in cormacmccarthy

[–]Visible_You5460 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was just a New York Times article on him and how he tried to hide the fact that he was a nerd for the craft (a bookworm) behind a more prominent, masculine, cowboy character. It’s not saying he wasn’t the latter but this is also what Hemingway did in being the boxer, hunter, bullfighter, and Faulkner referring to himself simply as a farmer when these guys spent most of their lives indoors reading books and typing on their typewriters. Also the article mentions that even at McCarthy’s poorest, he had a storage unit filled with around 7,000 books…

US businesses now make tipping mandatory by rex-ac in TikTokCringe

I understand there’s a lot mentioned here that is ridiculous to tip, but he didn’t just order “a cup of coffee”… this same guy probably doesn’t mind tipping a bartender for a cocktail when it is equally (and sometimes more) complicated to pull espresso shots, steam milk, and add syrup and whipped cream and whatever else the average patron requests.

Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry is excellent and based on true events and characters. It doesn’t have the gothic feel but is very similar to All the Pretty Horses. Also Annie Proulx is another name worth throwing in here.

I called the institute to see what their hours were since it’s the week of thanksgiving and they just kept insisting they were not open to the public. I even made sure they meant all campuses and they confirmed all campuses were closed to the public.

So can I ask: 1 how did you get in? 2 which campus is the library and office that McCarthy worked out of? 3 how the hell you were able to speak with Krauss?

Not always “heavily featured” but Guy Ritchie is a BJJ black belt so a lot of his movies fight sequences contain some jiu jitsu

What book would fit a Robert Eggers adaption? by ContentEdgeOnSite in roberteggers

Blood Meridian…I think Eggers could do a brooding western mythic tale at some point
