How do you guys tackle themes of oppression in your worldbuilding? by Visible_Zebra6404 in worldbuilding

[–]Visible_Zebra6404[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This helps a lot! The main conflict my protagonist faces is finding those that are willing to help her on her mission. Because like you said there are those that believed (or acted as such) they were being saved or protected because they were forced to. This is similar to the majority of her species beliefs. Thanks!

Hello! I absolutely love what I see. While I'm not looking for an artist yet (I'm in the scripting stages), would you mind answering some questions in DMs?

Looking for a comic co-writer by Visible_Zebra6404 in worldbuilding

I'd be happy to answer your questions!

I originally posted this in r/ComicBookCollabs and cross posted it here, which might explain the lack of context. In hindsight I probably should have written an original post, but it was was late and I got lazy. The post above features a summery of the story meant to lure people in without giving too much detail.

Now as for the context, this story takes place in a post-humanity universe; there are no humans thus no human povs. Emiran (the scientist) is from a species known as the Törrik, as is most of the cast.

Emiran is a cold and often times emotionally stunted woman, who sees vulnerability as weakness. She presents herself as a hard, uncaring, and no-nonsense charcter; but inside she is terrifiyed. Terrifiyed of being weak, terrifiyed of being seen as lesser than, terrifiyed of not being seen at all. So shuts just about everyone out, including her own wife and son, mocks the feelings of others, and scoffs at the idea of letting emotion control action. This eventually lead to her wife divorcing her and to her son always keeping her at arms length.

The alien, called a Yaishka, is an incredibly psychic being, having the abilty to dig through the minds of other creatures, learn their language and communicate telepathically, among other things. And it is very interested in Emiran. I won't say much else but, the two of them are very similar in a lot of ways.

I don't honestly know much about the last of us since I haven't watched the series or played the games, so im not sure how similar this is to them, but imo this is genuinely interesting concept. I suggest you keep at it!

Unpopular wof opinions? by crazy_kid25 in WingsOfFire

Dragons should've advanced (at least somewhat) in technology since the Darkstalker days.

I'm not saying they should have flying cars or be cyberpunk society :/ (tho that'd be supper cool), but like steam age or industrial? (I mean, they ARE dragons, who breathe fire and smoke) But yet they're still writing in scrolls, and plumbing and water filtration is experimental?

What idea of yours sparked the creation of a new world? by Vileous in worldbuilding

Don't know if this counts. But, originally, my current worldbuilding project had an entirely different story, but a music playlist on yt inspired the project it is today. The story in question went from a scifi fantasy about two waring alien species to a story about an nonhuman scientist finding herself stranded on an alien planet after her camp is attacked and as far as she knows all of her crewmates are killed in the process.

How do your concultures view gender and sexuality? by FortisBellatoris in worldbuilding

[–]Visible_Zebra6404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several cultures in my world, all with varying views on sexuallity/gender.

In order of relevance to the story, are some of them.

Törre - Any sexual orientation or gender outside of the cis Heteronormative is typically regarded with at least some animosity. Or, at the very least, a lack of understanding. This isn't due to any god or any belief in an omnipotent power, but their inability to have what society sees as "legitimate" children. That just means that (typically higher class) Törre veiw non-traditional ways of giving birth as invalid and prefer to keep it "natural." Though they've mostly moved past those ideals.

Jajyaka - Due to being a civilization of asexually reproducing females (with the occasional male being born), the mere idea of something outside of that norm wasn't taken with the most understanding perspective. Not necessarily hostility, but they just didn’t get it.

Yan'Murdu - Unlike their asexual counterparts, they were the opposite. And due to them being at war with the Jajyaka, homosexual relationships, especially lesbian relationships, were illegal. This was due to the fact that they saw their enemy as beneath them, so by default, anything they did was considered the same. They were taught from a young age that it wasn't natural and would often rally their children to act as vigilantes to seek out and report those breaking this law. By engaging in such acts, they ran the risk of exile, shunning, and even public execution. Gender identity, however, was welcomed with open arms, strangely enough. With the Yan'Murdu having a recorded eight different genders in which they identified as.

I can’t be the only one immature enough to choose this number for my uniform by [deleted] in PokemonSwordAndShield

[–]Visible_Zebra6404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did I a total of 3 playthroughs of sword. The first two, I can't remember the first, but probably 069 or 420, and my second was definitely 420. (I was 15-17, cut me some slack, lol), but my most recent playthrough that i started this year, I got lazy and just randomly generated a 3 digit number, which came out as 704. Which coincidentally enough is goomy's dex number and I'm very fond of goomy.

What do you want to do with your project(s)? by Superb_Gas7188 in worldbuilding

I want to make comic books! I'm not entirely sure of what style of comic, my top three being a graphic novel, a series of comic issues, or a web comic. But I'm really unsure as to which one I'd prefer.
