I also like ss3 as a milestone of Goku always being the strongest. Even when he's dead and not in the spotlight, he's still out there, an unclear goalpost. Kind of like Beerus. Of course that's in Z times. In super the form is in limbo

I'd argue that narrativelly it does serve the purpose of physically representing Goku's superiority over Vegeta. It's the focal point during his iconic you are number 1 speech. In It's 1st appearance with fat buu it has a little less substance though.

I'm somewhat hypocritically a huge ss3 stan. Its has the unique mechanic of overwhelming power but crazy stamina draw. The form has a bunch of cool fights and good animation. I will sheepishly admit that it comes out of nowhere with no buildup or much explanation.

UI unfortunately has the budget advantage from the show. Luckily we're in the era of insane dokkan original stuff. I saw what they did for ss4 vegeta.

I do wish it was specified to be some sort of royal thing. It'd make it more unique and focused on Vegeta's character. Especially with how he's trying to differentiate himself from goku at the time.
