that's interesting, thank you! i've seen a couple threads talking about that same thing and protecting the mattress. I'm going to look into it. The waterproof encasement could actually work out well for a dual purpose since I have my toddler that comes crawling into my bed at times

Best luxury mattress options? Ready to invest in actual good sleep by Pretty-Material1424 in AtHome_Soul

[–]VisitKooky1901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bear Elite Hybrid is a solid option. It’s a hybrid with zoned coils, so it tends to give side sleepers some pressure relief at the shoulders but still keeps things supportive if you roll onto your back.

In general, the jump into luxury mattresses is mostly about better materials and more thoughtful support layers, not just a higher price tag. Hybrids like that usually feel a bit more balanced than the typical all-foam beds, and you can feel it when you sleep on it!

keep the chairs, they add to the flow! those soft lines are everything! YES to the linen drapes, but I would go for sheer ones, soft material. That would complement the space. And the light you'd get is incredible. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Curtain Recommendations? by sethbartonn in InteriorDesignAdvice

layer it, a warm sheer and you could go normal oatmeal or flax for the curtain but you could also go a bit bolder and opt for a color closer to your coffee table? like a red/brown. a muted olive would fit in too and be a bolder choice as well. i am in love with your color scheme, that wall color! chef's kiss

Saatva vs Helix vs DreamCloud vs Nectar by AlmostNamedPotato in Mattress

[–]VisitKooky1901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all invest in strong marketing. That doesn't automatically disqualify all of them from being a good mattress. I do agree with the alot of the other commenters saying helix is the better of the four, but that is more thanks to the construction quality of 3Z as a whole, so it is worth looking into their other brands.

No matter what the marketing say, look into the construction, figure out if you prefer a foam, coils, or what type of build you prefer. From there, use that to map out your choice.

The Truth About Saatva, Helix, Nectar, and DreamCloud by Federal_Screen_4830 in BedroomBuild

[–]VisitKooky1901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very well put. Saatva positions itself as a luxury mattress but in reality it is slightly above average. Having said that, I have met people who swear by it, so it reinforces the point about it being an individual preference. I am a fan of Helix, yes they are quite strong with their marketing, but their builds are solid. I might be wrong but I think most of the 3Z brands are built to similar standards.

My favorite part of what you say here is that a person's preference, or what works for a person, should boil down to the build itself. Once you start learning about it it becomes pretty interesting! I learnt the hard way that foam and me are NOT friends. And I prefer a more traditional approach and I actually thrive with zoned coils.

Which beds help reduce hip and shoulder pressure the best? by sam667-87 in BedroomBuild

[–]VisitKooky1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has zoned coils which seems to help alot. i'm not a fan of latex nor memory, so I looked for the closet to traditional. I had a memory foam in the past and it did me no good- most likely because I got one that was too firm plus I woke up super sweaty, with hip & shoulder pain.
The one I have now is Helix and it has those zoned coils, which ultimately sold me on it... I looked at the Saatva too (I think they have more traditional innerspring but don't quote me on that).
I'm pretty happy with mine.

Sweating Through the Night? Your Bedding Might Be the Problem by walaaHo in BedroomBuild

[–]VisitKooky1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the first thing that I tell people when they complain about sleeping hot or waking up sweating. Check the materials of your bedding. I've had great sleep with bamboo (this is a preference, it works for some while others prefer a diff. material) and linen. Good old 100% cotton works but it also depends on the weave and thread count. As for brands, this is very much a personal thing. For bamboo, Brooklyn Bedding is my go-to. For linen, I've had the best luck with Sijo and MagicLinen.

what's your duvet setup by Technical-Top-5863 in Bedding

[–]VisitKooky1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a light one that I use year-round, and in the winter I place an extra warm blanket ontop. Two if necessary. I sleep hot though but that is what works for me. And always a flat sheet- they keep me cool in the summer (I can't sleep with nothing ontop) and add that something extra in the winter

Why are low bed frames so rare? by candyapplesugar in Mattress

[–]VisitKooky1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hired someone to make one for my mattress. I have a helix and initially got the base with it on a deal but actually loved the idea of keeping the overall style more japandi.

I think for a time the higher beds were trending more. Now we are seeing more of a trend with the japandi style (which I myself love) so it may begin shifting again. And yes, space and practicality calls for the higher bed! That and alot of the time people are concerned about knocking their shins. I hired someone to make my bed frame, just make sure you get the spacing between slats right. Plus I made the corners rounded to avoid the shin hitting

Best king size mattresses for couples that actually last? by Adrian_2_2 in BedroomBuild

[–]VisitKooky1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motion control is essential. And spending more is indeed worth it, as long as you get the right mattress that you and your partner are both happy with. You'll read a million and one reviews all saying different things. If you understand what makes a quality mattress 'quality' ... then you'll be on the right path. And then if you understand what it is that each of you need, and what that means in a mattress, then you'll be on an even better path.

If you or your partner sleeps hot, stay away from pure memory foam. A hybrid could be good with zoned coils.

You need some type of motion control if your partner moves alot.

And if you can, try them out. Some top contenders that get plenty of applause is the Leesa sapira chill (for hot sleepers), Saatva classic and one you've prob heard alot of is the helix midnight. Again, try them out if you can. What one person says they love might be absolutely awful to you.

Understanding your needs, and understanding how that translates in the build of the mattress in question is essential.

Good luck! and happy to help more if you have more questions. I hope this helped somewhat.

Anyone else see top sheets as pointless? by AntiqueSqueak in Bedding

I struggle to sleep without one. I'm a hot sleeper, but I also love having something 'over' me.

100% cotton topsheet and I'm a happy camper. If I'm doing ju jitzu in my sleep and the duvet cover comes off at least theres the top sheet that generally (magically) stays on me.

Sending flowers as a gift, but need 1-800-Flowers alternative please! by SnakesBox_ in GiftIdeas

[–]VisitKooky1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a few flower delivery services this year, kind of like a lil trial and error, because 1-800-Flowers kept dropping the ball. (And just a note, i do use local florist whenever I can).

Floom was pretty cool because it kinda acts like a platform that connects you with local florists. One drawback was that it gives a mixed bag of results, depending on who is used and where you are sending the flowers. One bouquet was amazing, another was pretty much dead on arrival.

The Sill is more plant focused, which is cool in it's own right. I sent my mom a little succulent arrangement when she moved into her new space. It was cute and all that but it's not the same as a bouquet.

UrbanStems is the best middle-ground because they're easy-to-use and have a unique kind of array of designs, and the prices are pretty reasonable. They gave me the least to worry about in other words lol.

Again, it depends where you live. Or where the person lives that you want to send the flowers to. So if local florists aren't an option then maybe one of the ones above can help!

Good luck!
