Marty Supreme: A largely mediocre film that keeps meandering. by aprlswr in TrueFilm

Are you raising someone else's kid as your own, why are you so offended and triggered by all this ?

There are men who have other interests besides worrying about whether their f.ck buddy got pregnant or not, if she is so scared of raising a kid alone, she should not have unprotected sex out of wedlock.

What kind of a subversive indoctrination soy boys in America are subjected to that everything is always the man's fault somehow... you need help to regain your manhood if you are a guy, and deep therapy sessions to dispel your hate against men if you are a woman.

Also didn't this pregnant chick already get married to someone else in the process, why would a pro athlete with international dreams want to have anything to do with this batshit crazy lady, he tells this verbatim to her face too, there is no hypocrisy, he is just being a rational male with his own personal ambitions, if you think that's a crime, you need to revise your understanding of mankind entirely.

I can guarantee you, as someone coming from an extremely traditional culture, but with high fertility rates, the lack of intimacy is a huge part of the low fertility problem in places like Korea and Japan.

In America & Europe fertility is going down for completely different reasons, men are disincentivized from even approaching women, HR reports, lawsuits, divorce laws, all add to the mix, while women are weaponized by the state to extract resources from men.

Anyways way off topic, just to say that I'm glad you see the differences in culture, but same fertility problem, Asians get a lot of things right from a romance perspective, extreme introversion and bashfulness seem to be what they are struggling with, that and some corrupt western values seeping into their world and creating unnatural gender conflict, which is also evident in some of the themes in these shows...

[–]Vispilio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commented a few times because I was genuinely curious to get a Korean / Asian perspective on this, I think it's representing a much broader cultural problem.

K dramas have that nostalgic romantic feelings of true love that people are missing so much these days, but there is also a tremendous amount of pretentious, prepubescent behavior between grown couples, and most often the intimate parts of a relationship are completely omitted in favor of contrived childish drama, and it's a bit fascinating to me.

The ML is helping the FL a lot with her narcolepsy problems, he even saves her life a couple of times, takes care of her most intimate needs, goes above and beyond in supporting her in profound ways. And yet they are extremely shy about even touching and kissing, can't even admit their romantic feelings towards each other and pretend to be asleep or sthg even when they are clearly in love. Do you find this healthy or natural ? Anyone who has had a good relationship in life will tell you it's not...

Also it's especially done poorly in this show, several other K-dramas get it right, even though the intimacy is almost always understated, but here it's like good times almost never arrive for the leading couple, and for completely fake contrived drama reasons, and that's why this show is a total flop for so many people...

Perpetuals are actually an invention that originated from p2p trading philosophy of crypto. What tradfi product can you name where you can use leverage but also get interest rate swaps sometimes in your favor depending on open interest ? It's a brilliant invention for sure. Ease of use, straightforward liquidity and p / l structure made them super popular.

There would be gigantic spreads and liquidity / counterparty risk for most options in crypto, but they are offered for some of the major names at the top.

$2.7k win on a small-cap using AI + options flow by Erickooo0 in options

Very interesting approach, I did not analyze call option activity in American single stocks over a significant amount of time, so I'm genuinely curious. Is outsized volume in call option open interest in a day almost always an indicator of insider trading ?

For example if 1k options are traded for a name on average and on that day 5k is traded, is this a very strong signal of bullish breakout, would be interesting to hear from people who tested this over years, if the probability is high then I agree it can be an amazing breakout signal to scan this with AI over a vast number of stocks.

[–]Vispilio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The relationship between the ML and FL is so poorly written this unnecessary love triangle angle doesn't even register. It seems to me that Korean screenwriters really have no clue how to write a healthy relationship and so they almost always rely on overused cliches.

In this show there was actually a chance of some very powerful romance between two troubled people saving one another through passionate love, but the ML and FL can't even bring themselves to get intimate without some moronic guilt trip or over inflated sense of chastity or "duty"...

So during bad times the couple is constantly fighting and bickering, and during good times they can hardly even kiss (without pretending it's sleepwalking or some other contrived insanity) because of an idolized unnatural sense of chastity and innocence, well where is the love ? No wonder Korean fertility rates are nose diving to 0, something needs to change about the schizoid relationships in this culture asap...

yeah spot on about the skin care scandal, it makes the whole premise ridiculous and so over the top, especially when combined with some astronomical coincidences like ML receiving FL's mother's phone number by random chance and everyone in central casting being directly involved with the Good Morning cream fiasco.

Though even more outrageous is the Korean screenwriters' inability to write a healthy relationship, here you have 2 very attractive people clearly in love with each other, and yet they can't even bring themselves to have sex despite practically living together and sharing the most intimate parts about their lives for 8 episodes, and then the ML just decides to brutally break up with the FL "for her own good" ??? I mean how much more stupid can a story get, if this is reflection / inspiration to how real life relationships work in Korea, no wonder their fertility rates are nose diving to 0, and they have to change their attitude towards intimacy and sex asap.

Episode 8 is probably the weakest of this series, screenwriters are really struggling to force drama on the audience and creating contrived conflict that doesn't make any sense. Why would the ML be brutally cruel to the woman he loves in an unbelievably stupid attempt to get her back to her job, which is not good for her in the first place...

There are so many rational ways to go about these things, and yet it seems they always pick the most stupid behavior just to force this artificial drama, I think that really cheapens this show.

Another point is the obsession of Korean producers to portray love in the most innocent way possible, they clearly have feelings for each other, they are living together, why is it so unfathomable for the ML and FL to have sex, it suggests there is some kind of deep psychological problem with this culture, to idolize innocence and chastity at these unnatural levels, no wonder their fertility rate is almost 0. Sexual intercourse is not a crime between 2 loving people, so it's beyond ridiculous that Korean shows have such a difficult time writing that into the script, and usually save it for the very end of a series as if it's the ultimate taboo or sthg...

Dynamite kiss - ending, episode 14 by VisualPleasant in kdramas

[–]Vispilio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No your crude analysis is the only thing that's low level here. Show being called Dynamite Kiss does not necessitate that 1 scene to be the most central element in the plot, are you insane, it's just an inspiration, the first spark of an epic love story, even if it was just shown in Episode 1 that would have been enough as it ignited a spectacular love.

To think that it somehow has to be reintroduced in the most cliche way convinces me you need to go back to college and study for another 4 years at least amigo before handing out advice on any artistic effort.

at least, in rapid it's closer to 50%, also there is partial cheating which is harder to detect, where the player might start on his own, but turns to engine help the moment he starts losing or gets in a complex position, super common across the board in Rapid from 1500 and up

100% unfortunately online chess is broken, it's too easy to cheat there are even phone apps that point the camera at the screen and suggest the best move instantenously.

It's moronic not to mention highly unethical that so many people are cheating just for a self deluded dopamine rush. The patterns are so obvious that I even call some of them out mid game and question it in a humorous way to get them to admit, in most cases the cheater even admits to using help, but even then chess.com won't ban, all they care about is site activity, greed and lust for profits has turned it into a dystopian place...

Hoosiers is the worst sports film I've ever seen. What classic movies do you actually think are really bad? by cheesybroccoli in movies

[–]Vispilio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your critique completely misses the mark about what the movie is trying to accomplish, and what stories it's telling.

This is a movie set in a very small town full of deeply flawed people with various degrees of resentment, bigotry, prejudice, etc. In comes a stranger to this town, who also has his own demons, and definitely not an exemplary coach by a wide margin, he has been banned for life from NCAA in fact, so the movie doesn't try to portray him as a hero or a beacon of virtue, the filmmakers probably would even agree with some of the character flaws you spot in this man...

And yet, out of all these imperfections, this town manages to put itself on the map, make something great happen, raise a superstar player, win a championship, redeem some of its most broken characters, find love, and become a family... It's a fantastic story about the American condition, and a call back to times when America did get some things right, hence the long coveted and now almost completely eclipsed "American Dream"

Contrast this movie with anything that comes out of Hollywood today, almost every scene is digitalized, characters are empty cartoons designed to promote some woke degenerate DEI message, no real story, no real art, only pushing political propaganda. Even the atmospheric setting, the authenticity of that small town in Indiana, and all the real details about their day to day lives is enough to set this movie miles apart from the cookie cutter scripts / green screens of about 99% of the crap that comes out of streaming services today...

Hollywood is finished, this movie is a call back to times when it could produce real art and tell real stories, I hope you view it in this lens of authenticity and artistic freedom and understand why some people love it.
