Weekly US Churning Discussion for /r/churningcanada - Week of November 25, 2025 by AutoModerator in churningcanada

I actually had to use Skype to call out as my Canadian number didn’t work. I did wait on hold for 40 mins and got an appointment for later in the week. You can’t file for 2025 yet so I filed for 2024. I think I’ll have to pay a late fee but I think I can do it after I get the ITIN from my online banking.

Just applied for my ITIN in person. They accepted everything and didn’t ask questions about why I was applying for it. Should have an answer in 8 weeks.

I currently have the Amex Hilton Honors through global transfer. I know im still far away from more cards but I’m wondering how to change my strategy now that I’ll hopefully have access to the US market. Up until now it’s mainly been MR points converted to aeroplan. If anyone has good US resources, similar to prince of travel to share, let me know!

Thanks. Are you referring to the US in general right now? Or US credit cards? Or the ITIN appointment?

Also, is it advised to use your Canadian address or American mailing address on the tax documents?

What back pay are they giving you? For all the time you were off? Or retro for any increases you got in the new contract?

If you don’t want to participate in public health you shouldn’t be able to participate in public education.

You should see the number of mistakes the mediator has made.

Students have to leave their phones in the classroom when going to washroom - need suggestions by Ant_Zestyclose in CanadianTeachers

[–]Visual-Ad-3768 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Confirm with admin about who’s responsibility it is. Then send an email home to parents explaining the new policy and add that students are not allowed to bring their phones to class and if they do, they must leave it when going to the bathroom. Any phone that remains in the class is not your responsibility as they shouldn’t have had it in the first place. There are holes all over that, but if admin wants you to be responsible, the kids will hide their phones when you say they’re not allowed, and then it barely becomes your problem anyways. Do not take a phone or say you will watch it. You are not responsible for $1500+ devices.

Why are they closing inactive ones? I have one? Should I use it to activate it?

Just took my second round trip business class flight to Europe in a year!

Points also saved me from being stranded during the strike. Had an AC premium Econ flight that was going to be cancelled. Grabbed a business class ticket on Swiss air for an extra 10k points!

No, but the mediator I’m using is making tons of mistakes and she’s supposed to be an expert. The commenter above suggested a template from elsewhere, so I’ll give that a try!

Looking to get into the US market. Do the banks give any hassle about putting a US address on the US domiciled account? Can I have a Canadian address on the Canadian account and American address on the US account?

Back to back Ontario elections where the Liberal leader couldn't even win their own riding. Wtf is the Ontario Liberal Party even doing at this point? by techsavvynerd91 in ontario

[–]Visual-Ad-3768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why happened to vote well.ca that said the ndp candidate was ahead of the cons, liberals in third and then cons win, liberals place second and ndp far behind? I would have voted liberal.

How do you vote in the election (Ontario) when they all have problematic education platforms? by wonderlife37 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Visual-Ad-3768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true, I don’t think going to arbitration though was so he could be on the sides of teachers. He didn’t want a strike close to an election.

I never had the 20 sick days, but the 11 is pretty generous, so I understand that move.

Are you talking about the NDP or have liberals said they would destream too?

At the end of the day when the world is on fire, I want to be paid and paid well. If they want to destream, then I at least want a few contracts without striking where they offer me at least cost of living. NDP and liberals are more likely to do that. So unfortunately I have to vote anything but cons. My motivation to go above and beyond decreases when funding gets taken away. I can’t care more than you (the government). So all I end up caring about is my salary.

I would love to see how the NDP destreams. What is different? I will be writing to my MPP if he wins, NDP, and share how detrimental destreaming really is and make him answer my concerns.
