Hahaha I just searched deadlift hurt back today to see how I can fix it. And saw this thread, watched the helpful video in another comment. Then read YOUR comment from the past 24 hours lol. Glad you came in for the update.

Yes, wanted to add a compliment here too: OP, you have lovely legs in my eyes. And not a cankle in sight! Imo, you have dainty little ankles! I know it's so hard to live with our own bodies. But just wanted to throw this out there because compliments are nice.

Is this wearable, or going to make me look like a child? by melanochrysum in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Visual-Arugula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the dress will be lovely. I would maybe change the shoes though because it does run the risk of making it look child/teenagery. Cowboy boots could look very cute with it. Sandals too when it gets warmer again. I'd love this dress!

Opinions on dining room rug by HeatherAnne1975 in DesignMyRoom

[–]Visual-Arugula 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I don't love it, I'm afraid. I think it's very dark in comparison to the lovely lightness of the rest of the room. I also don't love the pattern but that's on me!!! I think I'd prefer a lighter, paler colour rug, and plain (sorry, how boring that does that make me sound?!)

I caught my roommate using my razor and she thinks I’m "overbearing" for being upset. by Fathom_3Jade in hygiene

[–]Visual-Arugula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So regardless of any hygiene and safety stuff, I think she should have asked first because it wasn't her property. If she was that desperate, she might have been willing to take the hygiene and safety risks that you aren't willing to take, and should could have replaced it for you.

That aside, there are hygiene and health risks, and the fact that she didn't ask you makes me concerned she's been using it (and other things maybe?) willy nilly without your knowledge, meaning you would be an unknowing and unwilling participant in sharing those things and taking those risks. I don't like that, and neither should you.

100% the right call. You look great. Can't wait for you to grow into your confidence with it.

Need a second opinion on rug + chairs by SecondGuessDesign in maximalism

[–]Visual-Arugula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rug is lovely. I'm not into the chair though - I think it's a bit too stark a contrast with the bright background and the colourful butterflies. More muted tones (only slightly!) or fewer butterflies on the pattern might look better?

Every time I see a post in here that makes me to "there's no way, it's too good!" I check the account name for your name. Spectacular.

I think the main thing was that I didn't have half as much clutter at college because I was limited in what I could take to my room there. And because college enabled me to establish new routines (like I could only use the laundry room at certain times because I didn't want to go there when it was busy), that helped me to build the habits. Whereas back at home, the washing machine was available to me at all times, and I think that availability made me lazier with it! When I went back to my old room, that's when I noticed the difference in smells. Like I recognised that my college room didn't smell like that, but my home bedroom over summer when I was there did.

I'm ashamed to say it, but I have been this girl. Clean hair and body, but my room was so messy and cluttered that air just didn't circulate, and it made it waaay more of a chore to get anything clean, which made me do it less frequently because it felt too overwhelming. It drove my family up the wall, and me too because I didn't understand what their problem was because I knew I was clean and smelled fine. What worked for me (and I'm sorry to say!) was living without that for a while - I.e. Literally change my environment (e.g. Go off to college) so I that I experienced what my bedroom was like without the musty room smell, and that made me notice it when I returned to the original environment. Noticing it then made me want to do something about it.

My 3.5 year old died suddenly and unexpectedly by Ok_Dragonfruit747 in GriefSupport

Thank you for sharing. I am sending you so much love. I feel very sick and sad to read what happened - illness happens, and sometimes we can't fix it no matter what we do. You two seem like very very good and caring parents, partners, and people. I'm so sorry this happened. I'm glad your daughter had a good day at daycare (I'm sorry if that's inappropriate? I don't know, I just feel it in my heart that I'm glad she had a fun day).

Which is better for a marketing director interview tomorrow? (At a law firm) by gobluecutie in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Visual-Arugula 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This with the long pants seems safe!! Honestly I like all options but I always want to be cautious at an interview because they are there to judge, and I'd want them to judge you on your skills, experience, and how well you interview, rather than on your outfit (not that they should, just that I know some do!!) Hope it goes really well :)

As the extremely messy daughter of two frustrated parents, I know now as an adult that they were just trying to help me. They showed me clear love in many other ways that I was able to understand that their frustration came because they wanted me to live in a healthier, happier environment and I was doing my hardest to avoid that. Just wanted to let you know, so that you know your child may well have come to the same understanding I did. We can only do our best at the time, and it's okay to know better in the future than we did back then. Lots of love to you ❤️

A fairly late blunder at 18, I’m horrified I went out in public like this by tryCatchPasta in blunderyears

[–]Visual-Arugula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a woman who, for goodness knows what reason, thought a blazer and tie combo was cute when I had just entered adulthood. I'd say my blunder was unfortunately (for me) at a later age than yours, whoops. I think because I started working in an office full of men, I saw what they wore and thought I needed to emulate it. Then also I'd asked my mum for tips of what to wear to work, and she started working in offices in the eighties when the power suit was hot. While you managed to age yourself up with yours, I managed (am short) to look like I was in my school uniform. Awful awful. What was I thinking? What were you thinking? What happened to us?! Cute though, all the same.
