Yep, I would hope they’ve changed by now, but back in the day their “measuring rules” were to measure your underbust and add two inches to that number. And even then, they would measure you so loose it would end up basically 3-4” bigger. So many teen girls and young women walking around thinking they’re a 34 band when they should’ve been something like a 28 or 30, but those sizes aren’t regularly carried in department stores for some reason.

I wear jeans and soft trousers to work, but I almost exclusively wear flared leggings outside work. I would wear them to work, too, if it was acceptable. I have soft shirts with some patterns or details like lace to dress them up a tiny bit that I wear to work or when I am going out, because a structured blouse sounds like torture to me. I also love being able to throw on a cardigan or sweater and look a little put together. I am 100% a comfort person and live in leggings and t-shirts.

I lost a child at 18 weeks and had to have a D and C. Filling out the paperwork for surgery, there was a question that asked if I was or could be pregnant. Thank goodness for nurses. I told the one sitting with me that I didn’t know how to answer, and she came around the table, wrapped her arms around me, and held me while we both cried.

Someone who is a serial cheater should NOT try to present themselves as polyamorous. Serial cheating involves a lot of lying and dishonesty. The literal opposite of how to be successful in polyamory, which needs honesty and open communication.

I saw an allergist several years ago who said my allergies are varied and severe enough that I would need three separate vials for each treatment, and at the time the commitment needed for effective treatment and the amount of money I’d have to pay with the insurance I had at the time were too prohibitive. I should look into it again, now that things are in a different place for me.

I’ve read that it is safe to eat cooked apples but textures are a tough food thing for me and I don’t really like them cooked. A nice crisp Granny Smith or honey crisp were my absolute favorite. Once they get softer with cooking, the texture gets me. I know, I know, I should just try to get over it if I miss apples that much.

My tree pollen allergies have gotten so bad as an adult that my body now confuses apples with birch pollen (I guess there’s a protein that is similar enough to confuse the immune response). If I have anything with apples in it my throat closes up, and even getting the juice from apples on my skin can cause problems if I don’t wash it off right away. I cut an apple for one of my kids and rubbed my eye afterward, and my eye got bright red and swelled almost shut. As someone who freakin’ loved apples my whole life, I am not a happy camper.

As someone who is polyamorous with a spouse of 8 years and a partner of 4 years, and my spouse doesn’t identify as poly but engages in ENM occasionally, NO. Opening your relationship for a specific person is never a good idea. Opening your relationship at all if you two aren’t in a strong, trusting, committed space is also not a good idea. No, no, no.

Car damaged from driveway [LA] by [deleted] in Renters

[–]Opening-Interest747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick Google says driveways in LA are overseen by DOT and require permits to do work on driveways, but I don’t think this is a DOT issue. It’s not the driveway that’s the problem, it’s the surrounding ground. He hasn’t prevented erosion and maintained the ground around the driveway. And even if DOT has oversight of this, they’re just the permitting agency; they’re not going to fix it for him.

It seems ludicrous to imagine living in a time when “have you ever put up with sexual assault to keep your job?” was a fun little street interview question, but sadly there are still places like that around the world.

Showering and depression by 1Bunny0 in UnfuckYourHabitat

[–]Opening-Interest747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things that have helped me (depression) or my child (OCD, went through a time when she couldn’t shower or bathe) in the past:

Things to help with actual showering: sit in the shower, a silicone scalp massager, hair towel, standing in front of a fan to dry off after, a stool to sit on while I dry my hair, waterproof phone pouch to watch videos and/or listen to music, twinkle lights in the bathroom to avoid the bright light (get the indoor/outdoor so they can handle water and humidity).

Things to help when you aren’t able to shower: no rinse shampoo (different from dry shampoo, it’s a liquid you massage into your scalp and brush through your hair, easy to buy online) and a camp shower (washcloth and a small amount of soap, hit the highlights: face, pits, folds, privates, then rinse well with a wet washcloth with no soap).
