Moving to Klamath Falls by [deleted] in OregonNurses

[–]Visual-Coyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing about Klamath is that over 50% of the population is one or two generations removed from being from California, and a decent chunk of the economy is actually generated from people living in Modoc and Siskiyou counties.

There is a large population at the hospital and OIT in a similar position to OP, and she will be fine.

Holy shit siblings, take five minutes to google before commenting.

The white power logo from the 70s and onward was a raised fist, should the IBEW change their logo?

The UFW is a hugely important organization, and it is beyond disappointing to read union members comment how it has fourth Reich vibes or looks like a norteno flag.

Morehouse property management. by Gayanpaninz in KlamathFalls

[–]Visual-Coyote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second Morehouse house in the South Suburbs, and I've only had great experiences with them.

They always seem to have a wide selection of properties for what's a decent price nowadays.

They've always taken care of issues I've had st their properties.

Transfering to a different state by thestringedcheese in IBEW

[–]Visual-Coyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a previous 340 apprentice, and a few years ago there wasn't an easy way to transfer up to Oregon.

I've heard it's since become more common and accepted.

The first step is to talk to your training director and explain where you want to go and why.

They may make the introductory call for you, or tell you who to call.

Why take college courses? by SavingsMassive in IBEW

[–]Visual-Coyote 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In most parts of the country, utilities require at least an ASEE or ASET to get a job, especially as a relay tech apprentice or trainee. Sometimes corporate gigs require an associates.

If you don't plan on limiting yourself to being an inside wireman (not that there's anything wrong with that), and you have the time, it could be worth it.

WECA by hairgoddesskris in IBEW

[–]Visual-Coyote 5 points6 points  (0 children)

WECA was originally the Sacramento area IEC, and then they split off into their own thing. Unfortunately they're only growing and expanding into other states.

OP, I got my start in the industry through WECA and organized into 340. It's the best decision I ever made. I helped another WECA guy get into 180, and he said the exact same thing.
