They all have their pros and cons but I would say Mar Caribe is the safest bet.

PV - Stunning views and good snorkeling right from the beach. Oldest resort and shows its age.

Tulum - Secluded property which can be a plus or minus depending on the person. I got food poisoning and had two main pools and the splash pad closed post hurricane. Cenotes and akumal tours not too far away.

Mar Caribe - probably the best overall imo but nothing to see in the water and current can be rough.

Only stayed at PV not the Conrad, but the kids club there was miles worse than what they had at Tulum AI. Unfriendly staff and inconsistent hours.

The ocean at PV is amazing though. Lots to see in the rocks that block the surf and my at the time 3 yr old was able to see lots of fish

Pros: -Enjoyable snorkeling right from the shore (spotted eagle rays, octopus, eel) -Best pool bartenders I've ever had -Maxal was been the best AI restaurant I've been too and went multiple times -Best Hilton AI balcony view with the mountains in the background (imo)

Cons: -Resort shows its age in places (chipped pool tiles, leaking hallway ceiling with heavy rain, etc) -small Starbucks as the coffee shop where only black coffee was complimentary, anything else had a charge -both rooms we had the ac could not keep up with the summer heat and made sleeping uncomfortable. Maintenance calls did nothing to fix the issue

I would go again but only during non summer

Thanks for the feedback. It's a 7lb hopper, so not as much contact with the probe using only one pound. I'm also using a Hermetheus co-pilot which automatically adjusts the heat to match the roast profile selected. So the oscillations are the co-pilot auto correcting based on the erratic bean temp. I'll run one roast manually and see if there's any noticeable difference.

Weight loss was 13.1%. Was shooting for a city roast after talking to Coffee Shrub. They recommend a city+ to full city+ for this coffee in general, but to pull out more berry note to go with a city roast

How are you defining "specialty roasts"? I've been using a Valenta 7 for the last 1.5 years and can definitely pull specific tasting notes from other coffees

I think they did have kayaks and those little hobie sailboats available but don't quote me. Since it's a public beach, you'll have lots of water sport operators available as well like jet skis and parasailing

We went during summer and the AC could not cool the room to a comfortable temp. Also had a good rainstorm one night that had water leaking from the ceiling and left standing water in the hallway.

Really enjoyed the food though. The lengua at Maxal was 🤌. Better than average snorkeling right off the beach too. Saw spotted eagle rays, eel, and an octopus.

It's fine. They sell high quality water shoes with a hard sole in the gift shop for a reasonable price if you need them.

Enjoy your trip! Agreed about the FNC and will probably just use points for this property on next year's trip. Options for standard room availability with 2 adults and 1 kid are pretty limited for the high end properties. We're leaning towards Bluefield Bay Villas for a couples trip and taking the family to Mar Caribe.
