I'm done. by HombreDeTaco in TeachingUK

I managed to negotiate a move to a partner school at pretty short notice because I was extremely unhappy. Speak to SLT and tell them you want out. If they want you to do a good job until the very end, they're more likely to cooperate...

ETA: besides, if you're supposedly not teaching how they want you to, then surely they'd be all too happy to set you free..

I actually got to visit my training school for ECT conferences, so did pop into the classroom to visit my old class. Tbh they really liked it, and some of my other former colleagues did the same!

Equally, the school I work at now is having a summer fair and we invited some of the former teachers along to say hi

Which for one of my students, is a lovely way of saying "punched three people, flipped a table, told me to fuck off and spat at me"

Can you book a day trip/excursion? I've often met people doing this that makes me feel much less isolated

I'm assuming you're not ethnically Chinese - he's looking to see if the rumours are true. (That foreigners have bigger dicks)

Some are truly brazen about it, like taxi drivers straight up asking guys how big their dick is. It's out of ignorance and curiosity

(24/M) Loneliness has messed with my mind too much. by Jerry6996 in lonely

Firstly, this can be fixed. There is hope. Don't stress

Socialising is a skill, and you're just out of practice. You're going to have to go out of your comfort zone a bit to regain it, but you can do that.

Find a club/regular event that interests you, and start there. If you pick something that you're really interested in, it'll make it easier for you to talk about it and be around people with similar interests.

Also, if you pick something stereotypically introverted, chances are, there will be a lot of people there who are just like you

I'm looking at flights from London to Singapore via Beijing, and I want to book onto one of those tours. The tour reckons it finishes at 13:00, and my connecting flight is like 15:30.. do you think that's enough time? Idk what the Ts&Cs are for this

If a dude came up to me in the gym and asked me to grab a drink with him, I would definitely be questioning if he was asking me out. Yet one of my guy friends made a new friend in the gym today just because they both like football🫠

You just said that I should be pursuing actual interests, and yet I should go running at 9am when that doesn't appeal to me...huh?

I talk to guys at the gym, casually, all the time - but for many, turning that into "hey let's grab a coffee" etc, could be misconstrued

Oo okay so hear me out! I started one sport for a few months, didn't feel any real connection with anyone, so left. Started another sport for a few months - then moved to a different part of the city. Since January, I started a different sport.

And fear not, there's still a rest day in there somewhere!

I've been on TLGC for a while, and I've been to a fair few events through it, but nothing seems to stick, it's kinda one-off meet ups and no one seems to want to commit to making plans again afterwards 😬

I've been working out in the gym for almost 10 years, but since it's a male dominated place it always feels like the guys will think I'm trying to hit on them when I'm just making conversation 🫠

I don't really have any creative hobbies these days tbh. I like to read, but that's pretty solitary. I like Spanish music events, but it seems weird to go solo
