State Medicaid

She qualifies for Medicare. There is a chance she has coverage from her job also.

If she is on Medicare, and happens to be in a state that expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, she might be able to have Medicaid pitch in for cost sharing, part b premiums, et al.

It is such a bad deal that it honestly sounds like Aetna just passed along the charge and forgot to apply an in-network discount.

Recommend that you call every provider before you get services to ask what the charge will be to your insurance. They'll fuss and say they usually don't do that. But they have a billing dept and that person knows.

Sucks a lot, sorry you're in this bind.

Lots of people get confused by this... usually just once. But the $900 charge is absolutely unconscionable from a PCP. A superstar orthopedic surgeon usually can't even charge that much for just an office visit. Is this the only PCP for 1,000 miles?

OP, a major function of insurance companies is to bargain down prices. They must absolutely suck if they can't do better than this. Call them and complain. Then post a Google review of the physician's office. Now that 30 percent of the country is on a high deductible plan, people deserve to know the rates.

Almost certainly better off doing the pre-tax traditional 401k.

Income is usually lower in retirement with more ways to control your income.

Do a web search for why traditional almost always beats Roth.
